The Special Education Department of the Dallastown Area School District seeks a Part-Time, 10-Month Life Skills Support Paraprofessional (Grades K-3) for Loganville-Springfield Elementary School.
As a highly-qualified* instructional paraprofessional, you'll play a valuable role in inspiring and creating pathways for student success by supporting special education teachers in the delivery of supports and services for students with IEPs.
Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis is strongly preferred.
Your work schedule will follow student attendance full and half days during the school year -- approximately 180 student days mid-August through early June -- with full-day hours of approximately 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, which includes 5.50 work hours and a half-hour unpaid lunch. Additional days may be arranged by your supervisor. While there are typically no pay periods July through August, you'll enjoy summers off to spend more time with your family. For a full school year, your bi-weekly pays will typically begin by mid-September and continue through late-June.
Paid Leave: Thanksgiving Day holiday pay at your per diem rate, and a December Holiday Break stipend amount of $500 issued the second pay in January. After a Probationary Period of 90 calendar days, you would also be eligible for personal and sick days.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Highly Qualified = Associate's Degree or higher, OR
Completed at least two years of postsecondary study (48 credit hours or more) OR
High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) AND successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment
Completion of at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to assignment each school year
Child-centered, warm, and receptive to children
Ability to carry out oral and written communications/instructions and work cooperatively with others
Acceptable record of attendance
Responsibilities:
Working one-on-one or with small groups of students as directed by the teacher
Assisting with personal and group needs of students
Aiding in the supervision of students
Able to carry out oral and written instructions including those in the student's IEP to allow access to the educational environment.
Assisting teachers in presentation and development of learning materials and instructional exercises
Performing routine clerical work
Working with instructional media, office machines, and equipment
