Special Education Academy Operations Manager

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 8 hours, School year position

Classification: Category III, Class D , $13.00-$16.00/hour

Reports to: Executive Director of Special Education

Job Summary: The Pirate Academy Operations Manager will be responsible for the daily functions of the Pirate Academy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to work with students with severe mental and emotional disabilities

• Ability to work with students on the Autism Spectrum

• Supervise the day to day operations of the Pirate Academy:

• Coordinate with building administration for safety drills and plans

• Communicate with food service department as needed

• Communicate with transportation department as needed

• Communicate with media services and technology regarding instructional materials

• Communicate with the nursing department as needed

• Assist with arrival and departure

• Collaborate with Academy Staff as it relates to:

• Earlier Dismissal

• Communicating with parents

• Ensuring the safety of other students and staff in a crisis situation

• Community outings

• Utilizing areas at Pierce Middle School (library, cafeteria)

• Communicate with the Special Education Director and/or Assistant Director

• Behavioral Concerns

• Staff Concerns

• Building/facility Concerns

• Maintain records, complete all reports and required paperwork in a timely manner

• Other duties as required by Executive Director of Special Education

Qualification & Requirements:

• Proficient with technology, including Google Suite applications and student information systems (Skyward)
• Willing to be trained in verbal de-escalation program
