At The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, we are currently hiring a part-time Special Ed Developmental Class/Special Ed Itinerant Teacher for Preschool and Early Intervention Children (16 hours/week), for our Roosevelt Children's Center. The Special Ed Teacher will be responsible for the plan and implementation of individualized special education programs in the Toddler Development class.
The Special Ed Teacher earn a starting wage of $19.59/hr (or $20.76/hr with MS of Education), with a schedule of Monday-Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - four days of 4 hours per day to start (186 days/school year), plus 30 days summer program. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SPECIAL ED DEVELOPMENTAL CLASS AND SPECIAL ED ITINERANT TEACHER
As a Special Ed Developmental Class and Special Ed Itinerant Teacher, you will provide a developmentally appropriate toddler experience to maximize skill development consistent with a High Scope approach, will supervise teacher aides and 1:1/1:2 teacher aides while demonstrating leadership role in a classroom team. You will facilitate team meetings, participate in staff development training and will complete required Early Intervention paperwork.
You will also plan and implement individualized special education programs to meet Preschool and/or Early Intervention students goals as outlined on IFSPs and IEPs. In this position you will also have the opportunity to establish and maintain good rapport with families and community based programs and work cooperatively with itinerant Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists.
Must posses one of the following education/credentials:
Teaching experience with early intervention programs preferred
Experience with young children, 18 months to 3 years old, with disabilities and challenging behaviors preferred
Some lifting may be required
You must also possess a current valid NYS Driver's License that meets the agency driver standards.
