The Social Work Program at Dominican University New York invites applications for a one-year Full-time Special Appointment Faculty of Social Work with emphasis on Macro Practice in the BSW program beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will contribute to our dynamic social work program, which is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
DESCRIPTION: Dominican University New York is located in Orangeburg, New York. The Social Work Program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for careers in social work. The program focuses on a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, emphasizing social justice, diversity, and ethical practice.
Reporting to the Director of the Social Work Program, this faculty member is expected to teach across the generalist curriculum but with special emphasis on Macro practice, research, and policy courses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach four (4) undergraduate courses per semester across the social work curriculum with emphasis on macro practice and policy.
Develop and implement innovative teaching methods that engage students and promote active learning.
Mentor students, providing guidance on academic and professional development.
Assist the Field Director with the coordination of the field program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's in social work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited program with a minimum of 2 years post-MSW practice experience is required for appointment. ABD candidates are preferred and strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience teaching social work courses at the undergraduate level is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in macro practice, policy analysis, or advocacy.
Strong commitment to social justice, diversity, and ethical practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
