I. Major Responsibilities:

1.Responsible for education and quality for all sterile processing departments

2.Coordinates all sterile processing departmental orientation of new hires. Plans, implements and promotes the education and training of staff members to ensure professional development within all areas of sterile processing.

Evaluates, reviews and reports the staff's ability to provide clean, sterile and accurate instrument sets. This includes all technicians, transport aides, and supervisors.

3.Provides educational programs for the sterile processing staff. Addresses and schedules all in-services for all three campuses.

4.Creates programs to improve the quality of the service and products provided by sterile processing department.

5.Provides quality assurance programs/audits and the support necessary for staff in the field of sterile processing.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

1.High school diploma or GED certification.

2.Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the International Association of Health Care Central Service Material Management or other certification boards.

3.Formal LEAN training is required within 6 months of employment.

Preferred:

1.Advanced Certifications: Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL), or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS). One of these must be obtained within 12 months of hire as a condition of employment.

Experience/Skill:

Required:

1.Minimum of 5 years in the Sterile Processing field.

2.Minimum of 2 years of educator, quality, or supervisory responsibility within the sterile processing field.

3.Strong working knowledge of principles and practices of sterile processing field.

4.Must demonstrate expert knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, inventory management, and case cart management.

5.Proficient oral and written (English language) communication skills required in order to fulfill documentation and presenting requirements associated with the position.

6.Computer and Microsoft office proficient.

7.Excellent interpersonal skills.
