What you will do:

The objective of technical spare parts management is to stock the right parts & right quantity of parts to ensure plant availability and safe operation through defining required spares and optimizing levels. The Spare Parts MRP (materials requirements planning) Controller supports and controls technical spare parts processes from material number creation to adjustment of the material masters, to obsolescence of the material items through established business processes. The plant engineering and maintenance teams define the required spare parts. The MRP Controller supports both ERSA MAF and bulk material number creation processes. The position acts as a link between the plant engineering, maintenance, procurement, & logistics teams and the NCA Regional Spare Parts Materials Coordinator regarding spare parts. The objective in this role is to optimize the spare parts inventory in coordination with the technical Subject Matter Experts (SME) for the various material classifications. In addition, the role provides support on overlapping topics from consolidation of duplicates to investment projects and return of materials to warehouse, SAP best practices and other associated processes for spare parts. This role serves as the Spare Parts MRP Controller for a multi-divisional site.

  • ALIGNMENT OF BUSINESS PROCESSES - Develop and maintain a strong connection to and alignment with the NCA Regional Spare Parts Materials Coordinator for training, coordination and ensuring regional and global best practice implementation for spare parts relevant processes.

  • Ensure implementation and adherence to processes such as: return of materials to warehouse, material item repair.

  • TRAINING -Provide training to plant and project teams (operations, plant engineering, project engineering, maintenance, logistics, and procurement) regarding business processes and use of SAP regarding spare parts handling.

  • NEW MATERIALS - Support new material requests (single materials through the ERSA MAF tool and/or batches of multiple new materials).

  • Support the engineering project managers with set up of new spare parts relevant to projects.

  • Gatekeeper for all ERSA MAF requests for the site including for new materials and the addition/correction of material master data.

  • ANALYSIS - Perform analysis and reporting of ERSA Materials inventory (e.g., SAP Business Objects analyses) such as: stock levels, inventory turns.

  • Maintain SAP master data - correct settings, identify/resolve duplicates, error corrections identified both through analysis and problem solving.

  • Evaluate and adjust stock levels of spare parts to meet business requirements and plans.

  • Monitor automated (routinely) replenished parts usage and stock levels and adjust SAP material master settings as needed.

  • Order spare parts which are manually controlled through Purchase Requisition creation.

  • PROBLEM SOLVING - Function as site's primary contact person for questions and problem-solving around spare parts management processes and systems.

  • Align with technical SME for technical questions (e.g., obsolete, vendor part changes/ replacement parts)

  • Utilize a full understanding and research capabilities for all aspects of material masters that can affect material availability.

  • Interface with maintenance, engineering, logistics and procurement for spare parts materials stock levels, replenishment, & issue resolution

  • OPTIMIZE & IMPROVE - Identify and implement inventory cost and efficiency improvements while maintaining the right quantity to ensure plant availability and safe operation in alignment with requirements from plant engineering and maintenance team considering lead time, criticality, and other factors.

  • Develop and optimize business processes, specifications, and standards, for spare parts in coordination with NCA Regional Spare Parts Materials Coordinator and relevant stakeholders.

  • Drive and support consolidation of materials (duplicates) to enable inventory reduction potential.

  • Lead regular meetings with stakeholders for spare parts to coordinate and improve the processes (e.g., maintenance planners/supervisors, plant engineering, logistics, procurement)

  • Align with the NCA Regional Spare Parts Materials Coordinator in evaluating, modifying, and correcting all existing material masters that have incorrect information.

What we need from you:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical field as a maintenance technician or maintenance/engineering support role.

  • Educational Requirements: Vocational training or associate degree as a maintenance technician (mechanical and/or electrical) or related field

  • Strong practical technical experience maintaining and/or supporting chemical plant equipment (such as pumps, motors, valves, gaskets, instruments) is required for the role.

  • Sound knowledge of spare parts management.

  • Interface skills in the technical field.

  • Experience in the procurement of technical equipment and/or spare parts is desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP PM required. Knowledge of SAP MM preferred

  • Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) software in the utilization of inventoried material items with work orders and/or cost center reservations and issue from inventory to work orders/cost centers.

  • Demonstrated aptitude to use and learn CMMS and/or SAP software in a detailed and analytical manner

  • Very detail orientated - high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work under pressure and with multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Self-directed, able to work independently as well as part of a team - make decisions, exercise good judgement, and prioritize effectively

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong teamwork along with persuasiveness, and ability to be assertive

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills driving to solutions
