Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Multiple Subject Credential and at least 24 Units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • Credentialed teachers who are first assigned to a transitional kindergarten (TK) classroom after July 1, 2015, must have, by August 1, 2025, one of the following: 1. at least 24 units in early childhood education or child development, or 2. both; as determined and documented by the local educational agency employing the teacher, professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children meeting the criteria established by the governing board or 3. Child Development Teacher Permit, or an early childhood education specialist credential, issued from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Permit options: Child Development Teacher Permit, Child Development Master Teacher Permit, Child Development Site Supervisor Permit, or the Child Development Program Director

  • Bachelor's Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements

  • Employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and negative TB skin test or chest X-ray.

  • Small class sizes

  • Built in planning and grading time

  • Team building opportunities

  • Collaboration with teachers, tutors, academic coaches, special education team, counselors, and school psychologists

  • Partnerships with local organizations to support student/family needs HEALTH, WELLNESS, AND WORK/LIFE BALANCE Full time teachers receive time off in observance of federal holidays along with: -10 sick days

  • One week break for October Intersession

  • One week break for Thanksgiving

  • Three week Winter Break

  • One week Spring Break

  • Approximately seven weeks of Summer Vacation

  • 6.25 hour instructional day at elementary school sites

  • Up to 6.75 hour instructional day at middle/high school sites

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement benefits through CalSTRS

  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
