OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to development as mature, able, and responsible students.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Spanish teacher uses multiple resources to engage students in oral communication based on modern language research and pedagogy. The teacher should be familiar with the ACTFL proficiency standards, levels, and Can-Do statements, as well as understand how to implement these standards within the classroom.
S/he should have a passion for learning language and display a confidence in teaching the language in all aspects (writing, reading, listening, and speaking). S/he establishes positive relationships with students, staff and parents. Works with students in K-5 as a part of a team of world language teachers in our
district.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as requested or needed.
2.Supervises students both in and out of the classroom.
3.Maintains professional competence through participation in District provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
4.Performs other duties as assigned within contractual agreements.
5.Adheres to all provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
1.Appropriate Bachelor's Degree required
2.Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Spanish
4.Valid First Aid/CPR card preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office and other business and community settings. Ability to
move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent
standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure
to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
