Provide Spanish translation and interpreter services for inpatients and outpatients seen at the hospital.
Provide Spanish interpretation for patients and hospital staff as needed
Translate written material into Spanish as requested.
Identify barriers to effective communication throughout the hospital for customers whose primary language is not English.
Assist in the process of early identification of patients who will need interpreter services.
Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
Keep and submit monthly statistics on the volume of interpreter cases managed throughout the hospital.
Evaluate the need for translation of all hospital forms.
Centralize the interpreter service through the Social Work office.
Other duties as assigned
Fluency In Spanish and the ability to pass a proficiency test with a minimum score of 3+ out of a possible 5.
Spanish language medical terminology knowledge.
Maintain professionalism in interpreter encounters.
Provide literal intepretation without bias or alteration of content.
