What you'll do As a Space Systems Engineering Intern, you will be part of a team that is responsible for a broad range of system engineering activities on space related communication technology and systems. You will be responsible for elements such as system requirements configuration/tracability, system integration, and system verification. Internship Program Details:You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable. What you'll need Education Requirements: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026. Internship Dates: You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025 Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025 Additional Requirements: Experience with digital/RF communication theory/design Strong communication skills Strong self-drive and confidence to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance if hired as a full-time employee post-internship US Citizenship required What will help you on the job Familiarity with satellite communications and signal processing. Familiarity with space design concepts/constraints (e.g. environmental effects) Familiarity with SW automation languages (e.g. python) Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Salary range $20.91 - $56.97 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
