Job Description Summary

The Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) provides the expertise, business process, policies and standards required to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and renew the physical assets of the University, excluding the health system. In addition, the Division, comprised of approximately five Departments, is responsible for the strategic planning, management and operation of non-academic University property, and collaborating with the neighborhood to create a safe, diverse and economically vibrant destination. With close to 12M square feet of space, FRES maintains 186 buildings on a campus of 276 acres, completes over 60,000 maintenance requests per year, and starts approximately 250 projects a year. FRES is comprised of the following Departments: Administration, Office of the University Architect, Design and Construction, Real Estate, Operations and Maintenance.

The University of Pennsylvania is implementing a campus transformation entitled Penn Connects (http://www.pennconnects.upenn.edu). This comprehensive, award winning effort is expanding the campus over the next 20 years, including the construction of new academic research and recreational facilities. Job Description

Data & Documentation Intern

Position Summary:

Data and Documentation Intern will learn Tririga Space Management system and use AutoCAD to update plans. Intern will work with Facilities Analyst to survey Penn buildings after renovations and update plans and associated room information. Intern will work with Resource Center staff to review archived drawings and update associated metadata with new scans or rescans as required. Intern will also work with the Facilities Close-Out Specialist to download, review, and load relevant information to our drawing database and network locations.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Working with the Space Planner the candidate will survey Penn buildings for renovations and incorporate those changes using AutoCAD into existing building floor plans.

  • Using Tririga the candidate will update/create space information as related to floor plan surveys and information culled from the Schools/Centers space users.

  • Create/update an excel document as required to track progress of space updates completed

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student.

  • Ability to read/understand architectural floor plans.

  • Understanding of PDF/TIF file creation and editing.

  • AutoCAD

  • Ability to read/understand architectural floor plans

  • Ability to create/update plans and follow sketched floor drawings

  • Creative self-starter, good research and communication skills

  • Student Must be currently enrolled in Higher Education.

  • This position is not Remote Eligible; Must work on-campus at Penn FRES.

  • This internship is for a Maximum of 12 weeks in duration.

  • Interns are required to bring their own Laptop; no hardware or software will be provided.

Targeted Pay Range: $15-$17/per hour

This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting.

Pay rate will be commensurate with intern's year in higher education.
