Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Category Analyst position is responsible for collecting and analyzing data for the purpose of understanding the needs and objectives of the business. This person will use internal, market, and retailer data (IRI and Nielsen) to conduct analysis that shapes decisions and provides solutions for actionable business insights in general category management principles (assortment, pricing, distribution, etc).

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Must be proficient in JDA/Blue Yonder space planning software

  • Analyze large, complex data sets to address strategic and operational business questions

  • Distills and communicates key insights across all levels of the organization

  • Perform data analysis, build business models, and develop reports / dashboards to support supplier and retailer guidelines, including shelving guidance giving leverage to regional marketing teams for use by local sales teams.

  • Delivery of standard category management practices: shelf management, promotion planning/analysis, pricing analysis, and business development projects.

  • Responsible for supporting strategic planning by delivering forward-looking consumer/shopper analysis to increase our overall business through evaluating threats, implications, opportunities and making actionable recommendations

  • Conduct supplier/brand analyses - including financials, pricing, profitability, and simulation models pertaining to market data to strategize business optimization, promotions, categories, pricing, forecasting, and planning.

  • Provides specific and targeted analytical expertise to identify gaps in current performance and quantify opportunities to accelerate performance.

  • Manage multiple data initiatives, projects, metrics and ad-hoc analysis for Growth Team

  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with preferred focus in Business, Management, Marketing, or Statistics.

  • 3-4+ years' related experience.

  • Intermediate/Advanced level for MS Excel, PowerPoint; prior experience with data visualization applications (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) preferred.

  • Working knowledge of key data systems: syndicated marketplace information and data (IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Kantar).

  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills, verbal, and written communication skills -- especially with exposure to senior levels.

  • Ability to articulate complex information in a concise, easy to understand manner, with proper context.

  • Excellent planning and project management skills; strong data analysis skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; business acumen and ownership.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; agile and adaptable to respond to and anticipate changes.

  • Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Travel up to 15%.

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with a CPG/FMCG or alcoholic beverage wholesaler or supplier.

  • Nielsen/IRI syndicated data and panel usage and understanding.

  • Understanding or past use of in-store imaging technology (e.g. Trax Retail, Maxerience, GoSpotCheck).
