Nasdaq is looking for for a SOX Program Management Office (PMO) Director to join the SOX PMO team. The position will directly report to the Vice-President, Global Head of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) PMO of Nasdaq. The SOX PMO group within Nasdaq oversees Nasdaq's compliance with the SOX regulation, and is responsible for managing the organization's SOX internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) compliance program.

With this position we offer

The SOX PMO Director, as a member of the SOX PMO team, is responsible for improving and demonstrating internal and external partnerships to assist the team with the annual assessment of ICFR to ensure Nasdaq's compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. They manage the assessment program, i.e. the risk assessment, determining scope and materiality, establishing documentation standards, and reporting of the efficiency of ICFR, including the assessment and remediation of identified issues. As such, this role requires a deep understanding and experience with all aspects of internal controls, including financial information technology systems for a sophisticated and multidisciplinary organization.

The SOX PMO Director's responsibilities include:

  • Working with process owners to identify, design and document new business processes or changes to existing processes including process narratives, related data and system flowcharts, and the identification and documentation of key controls, to ensure testability of existing, new or modified controls, and ensure control and process owners understand their role and responsibilities;

  • Collaborating with the broader SOX PMO team, the control/process owners and internal audit on conducting root cause analysis and the development and execution of remediation efforts in relation to control deficiencies, to ensure consistency of approach and awareness of issues, challenges, and opportunities to improve Nasdaq processes and controls

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements/efficiencies through automation and use of data analytics where possible, and collaborate with process owners in the implementation of the solutions;

  • Acting as liaison between the control and process owners with the SOX testing team and the external auditors, i.e. support and advise the SOX process and control owners on SOX related matters, and maintain program key metrics including the status of design, operational testing progress and status of issue/remediation action plans.

  • Staying abreast of changes in financial reporting regulations as it impacts the SOX program to ensure Nasdaq's timely compliance, and effective communication and collaboration with the whole SOX PMO team and peers across other functions.

We expect you to have

  • BA/BS in accounting, business administration or related field

  • 10+ years of validated experience, with a mix of audit, risk and/or technology and/or consulting roles

  • Extensive knowledge of the internal control framework (specifically COSO 2013) and a solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational efficiency and information technology general controls (change management, system development life cycle, access and computer operations)

  • Previous SOX experience, or other comparable risk and control design or assessment experience, with a preference for previous experience in performing walkthroughs, developing process flowcharts, identifying key controls, determining test of control approaches, and determining impact of identified issues to the design and operation of the control.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills, investigative, and analytical skills including the ability to effectively address issues in collaboration with others

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted working relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to act independently and proactively, balanced with being the ability to work within a team setting and work effectively across business units, functions and regional locations

  • Action and results oriented, with the ability to drive results, effect change and have a positive impact on the organization

  • Sophisticated Microsoft Office skills

It would be great if you :

  • Have Big 4 public accounting experience with Fortune 500 clients

  • Have CPA/IA/CISA certification

  • Have experience in the financial services and/or technology industries

  • Have the ability and willingness to travel when needed

The base pay range for this role is $104,700 - $174,500. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
