Position Overview

As a Quality Specialist 3 with Kiewit's Southeast District you will provide inspections across our structural work to ensure that our Project meets the Standard Specifications and the Project Agreement.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels. Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry instead of design.

Location

This role will be supporting our projects in South FL

Responsibilities

  • Provide system quality control support by conducting inspections and testing of our civil and structural work (concrete pours, rebars, etc.).

  • Promptly complete scheduled inspections and tests as required

  • Support team members in their roles as program focal points for quality assurance, acting as liaisons with other functional departments.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the project scope and schedule related to his/her specific assignment.

  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.

  • Assist with identifying and reporting rework and non-conforming issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in a quality role

  • 5+ years of experience in quality within the construction field, ideally on infrastructure projects

  • Working knowledge of the structural work and associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques. Post-tensioning experience would be ideal.

  • Working knowledge of construction industry codes related to area of expertise (e.g., DOT, ACI, AASHTO, ASTM, etc.).

  • Testing certifications issued from ACI, WAQTC, LABCAT, PCI, NEC, or NICET preferred

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time

  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
