To allow for growth and salary progression the full salary range is: $84,247.00 - $103,434.00 Annually
Positions with permanent duty stations in King County receive an additional 5% added to their monthly base salary. The salary listed in this announcement reflects the additional 5%.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our South Puget Sound Region (SPS). This position is responsible for the recreation program on more than 350,000 acres of trust lands and conservation areas managed by DNR in the SPS Region. This work is accomplished across 8 counties in western Washington. This position oversees recreation planning, provides program guidance, and helps set priorities for maintenance and operations. Responsibilities:
The Recreation District Manager position works with the State Lands Assistant Region Manager to oversee the program's budgets and lead recreation staff in efforts to secure and administer grants for the development and maintenance of sustainable recreation infrastructure and capital funding. This position will represent the DNR's interests to Tribal partners, user groups, businesses, governmental officials, and the public where there is involvement in complex, sensitive issues affecting the district or programs. A central role of this position is to communicate DNR's current and future plans with user groups, volunteers, adjacent landowners, tribes, the general public, and other government entities.Required Qualifications:
OR a combination of education and/or experience equivalent.
5 years of experience managing forest land and/or natural resource recreation to include 2 years of personnel management experience.
Professional Experience in:
Tracking budgets including grant-funded projects
Project management
Managing personnel and directing the activities of a diverse, professional staff.
Maintaining a safe working environment by prioritizing, communicating, and demonstrating safe practices.
Facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution
Setting performance standards and expectations, training, developing, evaluating, coaching, and documenting performance.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and hold staff accountable using performance-based recognition.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
Both indoors and outdoors work, with the majority in an office setting (70%). Ability to work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions. The position is eligible for telework.
Occasional travel statewide happens several times a year.
A valid unrestricted driver's license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
Desired Qualifications:
Professional experience with the State Environmental Policy Act, recreation on public lands, and Washington's Multiple Use Act.
Professional experience with Trust land management and principles, DNR's Habitat Conservation Plan, forest practice rules, and the Policy for Sustainable Forests.
Demonstrated professional progression in leadership responsibilities in areas of land, resource, recreation, and personnel management.
Practical experience with agency policies, practices, procedures, and tasks.
Competent with computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet; project planning and oversight; familiar with multiple forestry tools and systems, including equipment and applications that enhance field productivity (GPS, GIS, and modeling systems).
