This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Sous Chef. This is role located in Baldwin, Michigan, Dunrovin Conference Center is placed on 155 acres of beautiful woodlands. The Dunrovin Conference Center is a private conference center/lodge owned and utilized by Whirlpool Corporation. At Dunrovin Conference Center, we focus on fine cuisine and amazing guest experiences.

Relocation assistance available for eligible candidates that meet the relocation requirements

Your responsibilities will include

  • Direct food preparation and collaborate with the Executive Chef.

  • Assist with seasonal menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies

  • Oversee and supervise the kitchen staff.

  • Schedule staff shifts.

  • Keep food stations clean and comply with food safety standards.

  • Ensure that food is top quality and the kitchen is in good condition.

  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment.

  • Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen's performance.

  • Solve problems that arise and implement corrective action.

  • Train new employees.

  • Stand for extended periods of time and may require lifting and carrying weight up to 50 pounds

  • Multitask and work quickly under pressure

  • Work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities when asked

  • Manage the kitchen staff, motivate them and assign duties fairly

Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • 1+ Years of Sous Chef or Head Chef experience 
  • 1+ years of kitchen management experience in the restaurant industry

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Ability to effectively manage the kitchen staff, motivate them and assign duties fairly

  • Exceptional cooking skills and a commitment to quality

  • Preferred culinary degree and food service management experience at a busy restaurant or hotel

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards

  • Proficient in Google Docs and Google Drive

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
