We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our community who is committed to delivering outstanding food to our residents. As a Sous Chef, you will play an important role in all food production, food presentation, and all back-of-the-house activity. All food preparation will meet or exceed Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. Join our team and inspire happiness in the lives of others!

What you'll do:

• Reviews menus and selects appropriate ingredients in order to prepare for cooking meals.

• Cooks breakfast, and/or lunch, and/or dinner, meals that are nourishing, palatable and appetizing in appearance.

• Maintains meal count and accurate and timely documentation of records.

• Maintains food inventories and accurately and timely completes requisition forms.

• Plans cooking schedules for readiness at meal times.

• Conducts temperature checks of cooked food.

• Serves food according to portion-control guidelines and program needs.

• Prepare food for special diets.

• Receives and stores groceries; canned food, frozen food, produce; date perishable items.

• Moves foods, ingredients to/from storeroom and kitchens.

• Cleans refrigerators, freezers, washes pots; cleans walls, vents and ceiling.

• Mops, sweeps, and cleans work area.

• Directs cooks, resident helpers, and dietary aides as needed.

What you'll bring:

• High School diploma or GED

• Minimum two-year related experience

• Requires ServSafe Certification

• Requires knowledge of and ability to learn food preparation, cleanliness and sanitation requirements, and exemplary customer service to our residents.

• Requires ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds continuously to move food service and preparation equipment and other objects.

• Requires ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, stand and walk over 75% of shift.
