Role and Responsibilities
The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible, and work under minimal supervision for the sourcing and project management of mobile device launches and localization. This role oversees all aspects of the project and will drive the project to key milestones with key internal and external stakeholders. This role is responsible for the sourcing process and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure maximum cost saving and effectiveness. Works independently, considered a seasoned and experienced professional with adequate understanding of own job area. Determines approach to work, and is monitored/supervised based more on milestone basis, and at key deliverable junctures.
Common Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Act as the key Sourcing project contact for Packaging Center. Build and manage project deliverables and schedule for wireless handset packaging for launch and localization. Participate and coordinate weekly meetings with all stakeholders to manage tasks to project timeline. Re-assign tasks and due dates to keep project on time to support SOP target. Communicates, reports and ensures that all interested parties and supporting departments, including executive-level personnel, are kept abreast of launch/localization schedule information, issues, assigned carrier customer requirements, customer or legal driven changes that affect scheduling, quality or cost. Create and manage packaging BOM in SAP. Create and process RFQs for vendor selection. Confirm specification on quotes and analyze pricing to make recommendations for vendor selection. Manage Engineering Changes throughout the lifecycle of the product. Gather specifications of packaging to provide direction for documentation. Work Instructions, Quality Checklists. Verify samples against specification and approvals from Marketing, PM/Carriers. Work with HQ R&D and HQ Design on packaging specs, data requests, and VOC. Support Pkg Engineers communicate with HQ Reliability team on HQ testing standard changes and inquires. Clearly communicate with customer, Marketing, PMs to understand customer requirement and marketing objectives. Provide possible solutions and impact to cost, quality, service, and time. Act as the liaison between internal clients and the supplier. Executes marketing sourcing strategies/activity requiring support, propose action plan, agrees with key stakeholders and executes the project plan. Responsible for sourcing support in defined areas. Applies basic knowledge of departmental principles and procedures. Performs work within company and regulatory guidelines.
High School Diploma or equivalent with 5-8 years of directly related experience or Bachelor's Degree with 2-5 years of experience is required.
Prior experience in sourcing, quality and/project management.
Proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Skilled in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all appropriate levels within the company.
Must be confident and committed working directly on projects with assigned customers (AT&T, SPR, TMB,VZW, etc).
The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple activities of own initiative and as directed.
The ability to push projects moving forward working with stakeholders in different regions and areas of business.
Demonstrated competency in persuasive communication skills using both oral and written modes for internal and external personnel at all management and staff organizational levels to obtain critical project decisions.
The ability to work independently in determining one's personal work schedule to be productive.
Requires some working outside of normal working hours/days.
Domestic and International travel required.
Prefer fluent in Korean (verbal/written).
Prior experience in a telecommunications industry preferred.
