The Packaging Sourcing Specialist will support company-wide efforts to develop and maintain strategic relationships with both regional and global suppliers who provide packaging components and materials to our company, ensuring they meet our quality and cost specifications as well as delivery timeline. The Sourcing Specialist will continuously scan the market for new suppliers and innovative solutions that can best advance our business.


Negotiate purchase agreements and contracts with suppliers, based on internal policies, budgets and quotes in order to obtain packaging components in the best conditions of cost, quality, service and response times.

Contribute to the delivery of the Procurement Strategy in specific packaging categories such as glass, aluminum, corrugated, chipboard and labels.

Lead and implement negotiations for the packaging materials on behalf of FIFCO.

Skilled at developing and delivering a negotiation strategy, with a strong understanding of the relationship between risk and reward.

Manage strategic suppliers by developing and monitoring key performance metrics. Collaborate with department stakeholders to evaluate supplier performance. Lead supplier business review meetings on a regular basis.

Drive year-over-year savings in accordance with corporate objectives through competitive bids, direct negotiations and/or process changes.

Basic understanding of supply agreements


BS degree, preferably in Business Administration, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field
2-4 years of experience in negotiation process and purchasing specifically with primary and secondary packaging material suppliers

At our Electronic Systems site in Rochester we are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer / Senior Buyer Specialist. As a Senior Buyer you will sit within a close team, reporting to the Procurement Manager with the responsibility of sourcing and purchasing direct materials for the Electronic Systems function. This is a very varied and interesting role incorporating complex stakeholder engagement and a really good opportunity for someone to move into a strategic procurement role. Your main responsibilities will involve: Receiving requisitions and demands, negotiating with suppliers and processing purchase orders, purchase order amendments and/or purchase agreements in accordance with procurement processes and procedures, and the requirements of the business. Negotiating terms and conditions, price agreements and other contractual documents with suppliers, and resolve most areas of conflict. Maintaining strong, effective relationships with suppliers that are capable of withstanding setbacks, and be able to resolve relationship and performance issues. Understanding budget requirements for the purchase orders you are responsible for, and to support achievement of these requirements, as well as identify opportunities for cost reduction/avoidance through effective negotiation with the supplier. Understanding key performance indicators for the suppliers that you are responsible for, and be able to engage with and address issues at a senior level within the supplier organisation. Maintaining supplier open order books and ensure that correct and current data is maintained in the Oracle ERP system. Training/coaching junior members of staff on procurement processes and procedures and support audits of these, including supporting the implementation of improvement plans. Supporting other members of the procurement team as required in their daily responsibilities Your skills and qualifications: Experience within a procurement or similar commercial function Able to demonstrate key deliverables through strategic sourcing High level of computer literacy HNC/HND in Business Studies or equivalent qualification MCIPS/Degree level qualification or equivalent highly desirable but not essential Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is highly desirable What we're looking for in you: Good knowledge of strategic and operational procurement processes Excellent team player and capable of taking a lead role when appropriate Well-developed communication, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills.
