As a Mechanical Controls Buyer, you will have the opportunity to negotiate a complex supplier landscape for supplier designed controls hardware in a space with little to no competition. The Mechanical Controls Buyer will build and manage supplier relationships, negotiate the procurement and execute contracts ensuring compliance to all GE Aviation policies & procedures while achieving the best overall value.
The role of Mechanical Controls Buyer will manage existing commercial agreements and allow you to gain experience in both commercial & military procurements. The successful candidate for this role has experience in placing complex military purchase orders and has a strong understanding of the procurement manual and all related compliance requirements. It will also be important to have the ability to collaborate with your team members to leverage and share experiences.
In addition, as the Mechanical Controls Buyer, you will:
Lead negotiations including terms and conditions & negotiate the best commercial and technical package for procurement requirements
Understand and follow Procurement Manual and work with compliance team for all procurements
Issue RFQ & manage bid process
Place and follow-up on POs
Adherence to GE Aviation compliance, quality, cost, and delivery requirements
Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution
Lead team and be the focal / expert for all Compliance related matters
Manage problems and schedule changes
Work with allocated key suppliers to improve On Time Delivery and Quality statistics to target levels
Communicate across direct organization
Present to senior leaders (EB and SEB) in specific purchasing space and on cross functional teams on how purchasing contributes to overall strategy
Assist in the continuous development of the Procurement function towards best practice. Identify and deliver value-adding opportunities from the supply chain
Advise Functional managers or other Functions regarding approaches, processes and procedures within own field
Has a role as a project leader of medium sized projects or is a major contributor to bigger projects
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sourcing)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Buying / Procurement
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
