General Summary

The Sourcing Director is responsible for developing a strategic approach to King Arthur's procurement and material management process for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. In this leadership role, this position will direct the procurement of goods and services for King Arthur; lead and assist Procurement team members and colleagues with procurement processes, change and updates to other procurement-related activities; develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop a centralized procurement program that will add value and efficiency to the organization with an eye towards ever-increasing sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and develop the procurement team

  • Ensure timely and open communication

  • Oversee raw product ingredient procurement planning & indirect material sourcing

  • Administer and update sourcing agreements as applicable; develop KPI's for suppliers to measure quality, service, environmental impact and financial performance

  • Assess and evaluate market and economic conditions for trends and changes to secure critical materials

  • Point of contact for resolution of any raw product, ingredients and packaging procurement issues

  • Identify and develop strategic suppliers to create a network which enables future growth, mitigates risk, and provides contingency plans for continuous supply

  • Lead sourcing activities for development of new products and enhancement of current products/processes

  • Drive cost savings initiatives through continuous identification and execution of projects, which improve cost and/or efficiency

  • Ensure the maintenance of information that supports the following ingredient and finished good attributes: Country of Origin, organic, all natural, gluten free, Kosher, and GMO

  • Propose and drive cost saving opportunities through analysis of current spend capabilities that includes raw materials, packaging and indirect materials

  • Analyze, develop and support continuous improvement on supplier performance that provides optimum quality, service, delivery and price

  • Conduct monthly inventory count process for packaging, maintains high inventory accuracy and provide the finance and operations organization requisite info for monthly roll-up on packaging ownership across the network

  • Administer and hold our partners accountable for Supplier Code of Conduct

  • Analyze and report organization's performance in sustainability metrics in accordance with B Corp targets

  • Work closely with quality, sales, marketing, R&D, sustainability and commercialization departments to support processes of current items and provide guidance related to packaging and ingredients for new products

  • Drive process improvement in packaging related items with innovative ideas to drive sustainability with suppliers while maintaining finished goods packaging quality

  • Serve as thought leader for sustainability operations

  • Own, implement and champion the Sustainable Procurement Policy

  • Coordinate with suppliers on managing initiatives and incentives, and tracking performance of suppliers in support of advancing KAF's sustainability objectives

  • Create Supplier Relationship Management process and score card to measure supplier performance

  • Establish account/credit and terms and partner with finance

  • Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor cost during the time period

Minimum job requirements

Ideal candidate will be able to perform the above with passion and success as well as possess the following skills, education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, Business administration, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field

  • 7-10 Years diverse experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations

  • Proven leadership acumen to drive change and inspire teamwork

  • Project management, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams from project start through timely execution

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical/numbers capabilities and problem-solving abilities

  • Advanced skill in MS Excel, MS Word, Windows and Microsoft A/X

  • Proven experience in developing and executing supply strategies

  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of total cost, performance measurements, and budgets

  • Excellent problem solving and customer service skills with a high sense of urgency

Physical requirements/work environment

  • Must be able to work at a computer for hours at a time each day

Responsible for the hands-on ownership of documentation, continuous improvement, change control, investigations, corrective actions/preventive control and internal audits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Leads Company in maintaining GFSI Certification. Support and comply with all Food Safety and Quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, quality and regulatory requirements. * Develop and present company-wide food safety trainings. * Maintain SQF Practitioner and FSMA- PCQI certifications; required for implementation, maintenance, knowledge and experience to manage programs. * Lead Role in HACCP Team, Food Safety Team, Recall Team, Food Defense, Crisis Management Team, New Employee Training, Sanitation and Pest Control * Responsible for managing Quality Assurance Technician role including all training, directing and mentoring to ensure all essential job requirements are sustained for this role. This role works directly with manufacturing performing many diverse QA verifications and validations that ensures compliance with all KAF Food Safety regulations and requirements. * Ensures an organized approach to document control systems including issuing, tracking and archiving as well as creating new documents and revisions in a timely manner. * Ensure timely release of documents and providing appropriate notification and training of new or changed documents * Assure that Companywide Microbial and Allergen programs are implemented, routinely assessed, improved upon and well-maintained. These programs include but are not limited to: environmental monitoring, ATP and allergen testing program. * Maintain data master lists of all documents and SQF registers. * Develop, maintain and document written food safety programs in compliance with all SQF, FDA and other regulatory bodies as necessary to maintain certifications. * Communicates safety, quality, legality and food safety policies to all employees. Verifies and Validates programs are implemented in all applicable areas & facilities. * Develop and maintained centralized food safety and quality as programs including controls to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer and GFSI requirements. * Provide necessary support to all departments for investigating and closing out internal corrective actions to continually improve processes, reduce repeated incidences and reduce costs. * Oversee the administration of the Internal Auditing program for GFSI, quality and food safety compliance audits across the company. Will lead and direct QA team in all aspects of Companywide internal audit program. * Ensure proper implementation of FSMA requirements companywide. * Review Food Safety & Quality trends based on systems data and report to Director of QA. * Act as a technical resource for external and internal customers as it pertains to KAF Food Safety & Quality * Conduct Supplier, Co-Packer or Mill audits if necessary. * In absence of key personnel, you would assume responsibility of Food Safety and Quality task, based on our one up one down SQF requirements.
