The overall duties of a Sourcing Category Manager Include:

  • Work closely with the Functional/Site Leadership and Sourcing Team to achieve goals and objectives of the Finance/Sourcing Department: Inflation/Deflation, Surety of Supply Management, Process Improvement/Functional Excellence, Personal Development, Payment Terms and Safety.

  • Complete and update Line of Sight to Spend Analysis by Category, by Site, by Supplier.

  • Maintain a Category List by Supplier including Sole/Single/Dual/Multiple Sources of Supply by PlantSite for each assigned Category.

  • Identify and manage significant risks in the supply chain. Ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place and that the risks are communicated. Provide options and execute recommendations including contracts, multiple qualified suppliers, qualified supplier back-up production sites, consignment, inventory levels, and other tactics to mitigate business risk. Quantifies business impact of potential outages.

  • Prioritize by Category and Site(s) where opportunity to leverage the aggregate Metromont volume exists. Build and manage portfolio of Categories to pursue based upon impact and level of implementation difficulty in conjunction with the Site Purchasing Managers.

  • Support Estimating Department with updated pricing and estimating requirements on a rolling 12 month basis.

  • Maintain and update Approved Supplier List by Category and Site location per the PCI Quality System Manual. Ensure the Purchasing Section IV is correct, valid, and updated on an annual basis.

  • Assist Accounts Payable in onboarding new suppliers in Viewpoint.

  • Conduct RFQ/RFP/RFI for selected Categories based upon analysis of Annual Expenditure, Impact/Benefit, and Level of Difficulty to implement.

  • Develop relationships with suppliers and identify potential partnerships. Develop alternative sources for materials and services. Develop new sources of supply to help maintain a competitive atmosphere and keep abreast of the latest technologies.

  • Lead and or participate on teams planning, developing and implementing new tools, standard process and procedures to support Metromont purchasing functions

  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations

Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of public relations/customer service principles and practices.

  • Skill using computers for business analysis using Microsoft Office software.

  • Skill in handling and prioritizing multiple projects as well as problem resolution.

Education and Technology:

  • B.S. Degree in Business Administration/Engineering or related discipline or a minimum five (5) years equivalent industry experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Agent in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • MBA master's in business administration or a CPSM is a plus.

  • Experience in Viewpoint preferred

  • Valid driver's license required
