GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Family Services (DFS) is hiring passionate individuals who are ready to make a difference in the lives of Wyoming children and families. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Investigates reports of abuse/neglect to determine appropriate action needed for child safety.
Writes and assists in implementing child and family service plans.
Prepares detailed case documentation.
Advocates for high-risk juveniles.
Monitors assesses, and addresses community service and restitution needs and maintains a schedule of restitution responsibilities.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Possesses a valid driver's license.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call hours.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of mental illnesses, medications, capacity, and competency.
Knowledge of available resources in the community.
Knowledge of accepted best practices of social services.
Knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to Social Work including ICWA, ICPC, AFCARS, ASFA, and others.
Knowledge of the court system, juvenile protection laws, federal and state laws.
Knowledge of Department of Family Services' policies and procedures.
Knowledge of human development, family dynamics, human behavior psychology, child psychology, aging, child abuse, and neglect.
Computer skills, including word processing and the WYCAPS database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Social Services)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Social Services Aide
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Social Services Aide

None

FLSA: Non-exempt
All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background check, including the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
