Overview

Performs all diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to established protocols.

This is a PRN positoin and will only work on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Follows established department policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Completes variance reports according to policy.

  • Performs the duties of Ultrasound Technologist as needed.

  • Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensures quality images.

  • Communicates and interfaces with hospital personnel, patients, medical staff, and family members to ensure high-quality patient care.

  • Operates control console for each patient's scan, including selection of proper imaging techniques and operates various peripheral hardware.

  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.

  • Transfers, positions, and instructs patients regarding the procedure in order to obtain and effect the desired diagnostic results as specified by the physician.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed.

  • Performs the duties of Radiologic Technologist as needed.

  • Participates in performance improvement program on a regular and continuing basis.

  • Completes logs and records promptly, recording all information that could be pertinent to others.

  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.

  • Secures and returns supplies such as film, linens, medicine, patient folders.

  • Attends continuing education courses related to area of specialization to remain current in the field.

  • Consistently follows established protocols and procedures.

  • Attends staff meetings as required.

  • Maintains harmonious relationship with unit and co-workers, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality patient care.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

This position warrants access to patient records.

Qualifications

Educational/Experience:

Post High School Vocational/Specialized training

Current State licensure in radiography and diagnostic ultrasound

Able to operate diagnostic equipment
