POSITION SUMMARY

The US Technologist is to provide quality patient care in the US department. This position is responsible for the performance of diagnostic sonograms, completing diagnostic worksheets with patient history, and communication with the radiologists as protocols require.

This position has exposure to communicable disease and body fluids. This position spends the majority of time standing and walking (up to 60% of work time). Frequent lifting, pushing/pulling and carrying of up to 35 lb. are required when positioning patients and equipment (up to 30% of work time.) This position serves a variety of age groups: neonate (up to 2% of work time), pediatrics (4%), adolescents (10%), adults (40%) and geriatrics (40%). Other duties may be assigned as needed for the workflow of the Imaging Department.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Registered ARDMS and/or CCI or registry eligible for either; and BCLS. Registry eligible employees must become registered within one year of their date of hire.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Maintain licensure for BCLS, and ARDMS or CCI. It is also the responsibility of the technologist to maintain all necessary education set by the ARDMS and our facility.

Essential Functions: * Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician. * Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs. * Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition. Provides written home-going instructions. * Collaborates with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan as necessary. * Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. * Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. * Maintains medical records using (In some health centers it may be using Electronic Medical Record software). * Educates and coaches nursing staff on best nursing practices. * May require other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Education: * Master's degree (MSN) required. * Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in state of practice * Nationally Certified as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner. * Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for medical provider is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on contract scope of services. * Appropriate certification to write prescriptions under the authority of the Medical Leader, if allowed within state of practice.
