Gulf Coast Medical Center is a 218-bed acute care hospital located in Panama City, FL. The Sonographer performs technical procedures, applying ultrasound techniques for the purpose of detecting pathology. Regulates equipment used to produce the images as well as process and organize the image in PACS.

  • Uses knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency procedures to provide safe and effective patient care.

  • Maintains strict infection control techniques at all times.

  • Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.

  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.

  • Attends inservice presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

  • Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • ARRT, CCI and/or ARDMS Accredited Ultrasound School


  • CPR at hire required

  • Vascular Ultrasound Certification (RVT) through either ARRT or ARDMS or RVS through CCI required within 12 months of hire


  • 1-3 years' experience preferred


  • Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to understand physician's orders

  • Knowledge of body substance isolation

  • Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs

  • Basic computer skills

Act as preceptor and resource for the department processes. This position will require hands on management.
