You are the advocate for the customer within Radiant Vision Systems. As a Solutions Engineer, your primary responsibility is to develop applications for world-leading consumer electronics manufactures using Radiant technology. To accomplish this goal, you will interact directly with potential and existing customers in person, over email, and over the phone to understand their measurement needs, and propose solutions consisting of existing technology, or help to understand requirements for new development and work with the sales team to quote.

You must understand the company’s technology as it relates to our customer needs and understand the unique value Radiant may be able to provide to a sales opportunity. Learning the industries and technologies that you are helping to sell into is important. To be successful in this role you should be constantly engaging internal team subject matter experts and constantly striving to understand our customer needs and how our products meets those needs. The company will depend on you to help make sure we follow through on our commitments to our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Managing the technical proposal process and ensuring that all technical information and recommendations addressing customer requirements are accurate, properly defined, and detailed
  • Responding to sales team/customer inquiries via phone and email in a timely manner
  • Technical management of product demonstrations and customer visits
  • Developing long-term relationships with customers through managing and interpreting their requirements
  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Managing proof of concept testing, including:*
    • Designing experiments and writing test procedure
    • Executing experiment and/or supervising resources
    • Providing timely, concise, and relevant reports on the completion of testing

  • Working with team members to estimate Engineering resources required to deliver solutions and create proposals for Sales and customers (including System Requirements and Specification (SRS) document)
  • Transferring pre-sales solution understanding to the engineering group and following it through development and production to assure specifications are met
  • Maintain expert level knowledge of Radiant products and industry standards



  • Providing roadmap feedback on requests from sales/customer to Product Management
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (product specifications, datasheets, etc.)
  • Speaking about our products, applications, and solutions at Marketing events
  • Training sales teams/customers/peers
  • Enthusiastically pursue meeting and exceeding customer requirements
  • Post-sales/production support as needed
  • Attending sales forecast and strategy meetings

Desired Skills & Experience

  • B.S. or higher in STEM areas of study
  • Two or more years of engineering experience
  • Software/scripting skills are a plus
  • Ability to interface equally well with customers, sales staff, product development engineers, as well as production managers and technicians, in a team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Travel: Approx. 30%, domestic and international
