Shyft is currently working on an Air Force Weather project to develop a cloud-based weather data repository complete with a developer-friendly API for other programs to access data. Shyft leverages experience in this realm from our commercial weather applications to help the customer design scalable and performant solutions. We are currently looking for an experienced software developer to join the team and help migrate the Air Force enterprise holdings to the GovCloud platform and to design a standards-based API for retrieving geospatial data.

This solutions architect will work on all aspects of designing, developing, and testing simple, yet performant, APIs for weather data access. This project utilizes several AWS components including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, and ElasticSearch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CS (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years experience in software development
  • Experience designing and using web APIs
  • Firm understanding of cyber-security principles
  • Experience with Agile development practices
  • US Citizen
  • Government Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)

Preference given to candidates with:

  • Experience with Geospatial Data (OGC services is a plus)
  • Experience using AWS cloud services
  • Experience implementing infrastructure as code
  • Experience designing and developing cloud applications
  • Experience with Meteorological Data
