Mission

Solutions Architects at Databricks are in charge of leading the adoption of Apache Spark and Databricks. They engage with the developer community to train them and evangelize Spark, meet with customers to suggest solutions that they can build with the technology, and see customers through implementing and troubleshooting production systems. Every Solutions Architect is expected to become an Apache Spark expert and to be excellent at interacting with Spark and Databricks users.

At Databricks we work on some of the most complex distributed processing systems and our customers challenge us with interesting new big-data processing requirements. As the complexity grows for both us and our customers, we are looking to our Solutions Architects to fully understand the architecture that powers our product and how it can be implemented. Our Solutions Architects not only work with technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop and Kafka but they also recommend product features and contribute to open source community. This is a pre-sales and post-sales position where you will work with customers to identify use cases for Databricks, and see them through using the product. Our customers are highly technical, so you must be too.

Outcomes

  • Provide technical leadership in a pre-sales and post-sales capacity for customers to support successful understanding, evaluation and adoption of Databricks

  • Consult on architecture and design, bootstrap, and/or implement strategic customer projects

  • Build references architectures, how-tos, and demo applications for customers

  • Provide escalated level of support for critical customer operational issues

  • Architect, implement, and/or validate integrations with 3rd party applications

  • Evangelize Spark and Databricks across developer community through meetups and conferences

  • Traveling to Customers

  • Become an Apache Spark expert

Competencies

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent presentation and whiteboarding skills

  • Comfortable with traveling to multiple customer locations

  • 3-5 years in customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture or consulting role

  • Ability to design and architect distributed data systems

  • Comfortable writing code in either Python, Scala or Java

  • Experience with Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Storm

  • [Desired] Experience working with open source and/or AWS/cloud

  • BS in Computer Science or a related field such as Information Systems or Mathematics

This position will be focused on leading business relevant engagements with Fortune 500 companies to assist with business transformation efforts related to security technology solutions. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Continually develop and expand personal knowledge of the validated security reference architectures * Translating key business requirements into security solutions * Design and propose next generation security solutions that meet the needs and functional requirements of the customer * Integrating information security solutions into the network design, and implementation * Present complex technical concepts in a manner that can be easily understood by non-technical or semi-technical audiences * Act as a consultant to the customers, striving to gain a trusted advisor status through honest but humble interactions * Perform technology demonstrations utilizing the WWT Advanced Technology Center, Partner and Vendor Labs or customer provided equipment * Contribute to the WWT technology body of knowledge through the creation of written documentation, white papers, internal blogs, WWT communities or knowledge base articles. * Join and be an active participant in one or more WWT Virtual Teams representing a technology of relevance to you and the region * Develops and fosters relationships with strategic original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and key partners who are local to your region * Support the account team through identification, development and ongoing support of new opportunities * Join account teams in key customer meetings to represent WWT's solutions and capabilities * Take a leadership position in proposal responses within your domain of expertise * Works with clients and WWT Sales team to obtain technical priorities, challenges, and initiatives that can be translated into WWT opportunities * Ensure effective coordination and support between account teams and supporting post sale technical resources * Use knowledge of technology, products and services to build new solutions and business outcomes for the customer Required Skillsets: * Experience with WWT's security focus areas including: Security Architectures, Endpoint Security, NextGen Firewall Platforms, Identity Access Management, and Enterprise Segmentation * Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management * Extensive experience reviewing existing Customer security architectures, assessing any potential gaps, and developing remediation plans * Solid understanding of security architecture, protocols, cryptography, authentication, and authorization * Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions * Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies * Experience with public key infrastructure (PKI), risk analysis and ethical hacking * 5 years of technical enterprise pre-sales experience with a focus on solution sales * Outstanding communication and organizational skills required * Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g. Business Management, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Management, Program Management, etc.) or equivalent industry experience preferred * GCIA, GCIH, GSLC, GPEN, GCAW CEH, CISA, CISSP and any other related certifications are highly desired * Travel requirement up to 60% Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled World Wide Technology Seattle WA
