Schrdinger, a technology leader specializing in software solutions for life science research and development, is looking for a Solutions Architect to work directly with top-tier customers, scientists, and developers to deploy, configure, and tune the company's high-end suite of molecular modeling and informatics applications and related systems. This position involves maintaining Schrdinger's internal scientific computing resources and presents an exciting opportunity to work with highly-skilled individuals within challenging software environments.

The ideal candidate is an excellent problem-solver, fast learner, and great communicator. This person should also have plenty of motivation to learn and the tenacity required to accomplish the team's mission.


  • Ensure that our software performs optimally in the customer environment (ranging from smaller scale desktop environments to sophisticated HPC and cloud environments)

  • Design and implement optimal deployment strategies and interfaces for integration into customer systems and technologies

  • Work closely with our customers on the installation, configuration, and update/maintenance of on premises or cloud hosted installations

  • Collaborate with product managers, scientists and developers to improve the deployment, support and configuration aspects of Schrdinger applications

  • Partner with our global IT team to support and improve Schrdinger's internal infrastructure


  • In-depth understanding of the Linux system and very good experience with system administration tasks, including very good skills in at least one scripting language (e.g., bash, python)

  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities

  • Good knowledge about technologies used in desktop and HPC environments (e.g. distributed resource management systems, high-performance interconnects, application deployment systems, networking)

  • Familiarity with technologies commonly used in web-based applications (e.g., certificate management, reverse proxy configuration, SQL databases)

  • Cloud computing experience with at least one major resource provider (GCP, AWS, Azure)

  • Background in performance monitoring and investigation and analysis of performance issues

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to travel


  • Understanding of cheminformatics and/or organic chemistry

  • Experience with research data management & IT environments in the pharmaceutical or other scientific industry

  • GPGPU computing background

  • Advanced networking experience (e.g. DNS, routing, firewalls, proxies, VPCs, NAT gateways)

Our ideal Solutions Architect will have a history of successfully designing layer 2 and layer 3 network based solutions with a strong background in cloud computing. They will be just as comfortable having customer and partner facing sales discussions as they are having in-depth technical and design conversations with engineering teams. This candidate will be able to drive technical solutions with senior engineering and business leaders within our customer and partner base. Our ideal candidate has the technical background to enable fluent conversations supporting our customer's network infrastructure, cloud interconnection, and software requirements. The Solutions Architect is a key enabler for the US sales team that will be instrumental in driving long term growth and success of the Megaport platform. What You'll Be Doing * Provide Megaport pre-sales support in the sales cycle by analyzing partner and customer requirements, and identifying opportunities to design custom solutions utilizing the Megaport platform. * Support sales opportunities for Megaport by creating and delivering demonstrations to customers and cloud sales partners, product education and presentations for use by the Sales Team, specifically as it pertains to integration with our cloud partners product sets. * Ability to understand and articulate partner and customer business requirements, develop corresponding solution architecture design leveraging Megaport and partner services. * Supporting our sales team in all sales activities to compete effectively with key competitors. * Learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of Megaport product and solutions, competitive products, as well as the products of our key cloud services partners (Azure, AWS, Google, Oracle, IBM, Nutanix, SAP, Alibaba) and transfer such knowledge to the Sales and Marketing team as well as to our authorized sales partners. * Learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of industry trends. * Learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of Megaport's software, API, and be able to engage in technical discussions with our customers, prospects, and prospective partners. * Ability to engage with other Agent, SI, ISV, and cloud partners as needed. * Provide pre-sales technical enablement covering North America. What We Are Looking For * 3+ years of current Solutions Architecture (implementation/consulting) in networking or cloud computing. * Strong technical background in designing Layer 2 and Layer 3 network architectures. * Strong customer presentation and public speaking capabilities; small groups to workshop level events. * Preferred experienced IT professional with background in enterprise cloud deployments * Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations. * Experience in designing or deploying cloud/virtualization solutions in enterprise customer environments is highly desired. * Understanding of Carrier Networks in terms of connectivity across the North America landscape. * Experience working within the Enterprise software market or Internet industries is highly desired. * Internet infrastructure, computer science, or cloud computing background highly desired. * Working knowledge of software development practices and engineering technologies are highly desired.
