Job Description

Data Sciences is a group within Publicis Media that is accelerating client business transformation through data and technology. Our products service the media agencies' users (i.e. planners, buyers, analytics) by centralizing data, automating/standardizing processes and ensuring data accuracy for all users.

The Soultions Engineer provides complete application lifecycle development, deployment, and operations support for Big Data solutions and infrastructure. You will partner with product owners, data scientists, and business analysts to facilitate the development, automation, and seamless delivery of analytics solutions into Big Data clusters. You will implement and enhance complex big data solutions with a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large data sets that produce valuable business insights and discoveries. As such, a commitment to collaborative problem solving and open communication is extremely important.

The day to day includes:

  • Determine the required infrastructure, services, and software required to build advanced analytics solutions in the cloud

  • Partner with agency stakeholders and develop prototypes and proof of concepts for specified business challenges

  • Assist data scientists with exploration and analysis activities, understand advanced algorithms and apply problem solving experience to build high-performance, parallel, and distributed solutions

  • Perform code and solution review activities, then recommend enhancements that improve efficiencies, performance, stability, and lower support costs

  • Configure and conduct tuning exercises on Hadoop environments

  • Support big data platform, including incident and problem management

  • Perform debugging and triage of incident or problem and deployment of fix to restore services

  • Document requirements and configurations and clarifies ambiguous specs.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.

  • 3+ years of enterprise software engineering experience with object-oriented design, coding and testing patterns, as well as, experience in engineering (commercial or open source) software platforms and large-scale data infrastructures.

  • 2+ years of enterprise Big Data engineering experience within any Hadoop environment.

  • 1+ years of Enterprise support experience with the following items: Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Spark, Sqoop services and clients

  • Languages: Python, SQL, Java, Scala, Jupyter or Zeppelin, Hue, Spark RDDs and DataFrames, machine learning algorithms

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing Talend or Pentaho ETL

  • Basic knowledge of continuous integration tools (Jenkins or similar).

  • Basic knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlik.

  • Experience with Enterprise Big Data security and management operations experience using Ranger is preferred

  • Professional Hadoop training and Hortonworks or Cloudera certifications is a plus

  • Experience with Qubole is a plus

Responsibilities This opportunity is with Syneos Health Consulting, an industry-leading consulting firm specializing in the biopharmaceutical industry providing services across a comprehensive range of key Practice Areas including commercial strategy and planning, medical affairs, risk and program management and pricing and market access. You'll join a team with industry focus, depth of functional expertise, and strong scientific and market knowledge that is uniquely positioned to tackle highly complex business and market challenges to develop achievable strategies for our clients. The Solutions Architect (SA) role with Commercial Innovation and Solutions is responsible for managing the overall solution development process and ensuring there is integration both within and across functions and business units. The Solution Architect is expected to be a "player – coach" who manages team members and steps in as necessary to ensure a smooth process, providing guidance and leadership to the teams. The Solution Architect work closely with the Asset and Product Solution Leads in CIS, the CI PMO, and the BU teams assigned to integrated solutions during solution design. SAs are not expected to deliver projects. Once a solution has been sold (i.e., awarded), the SA works to the transition to the delivery team. Solution Architects in CIS are also responsible for defining and continuously improving operational processes that make cross-business Unit collaboration and solution development easier. The expectation is that ASLs conduct "after action reviews" and objectively look at what did/ did not work and define specific actions to improve both the process and the overall experience for the next opportunity. Responsibilities: * Work closely with the Commercial Integration PMO to manage logistics including ensuring that the appropriate people are invited to meetings, that the meeting spaces are appropriate for the intended meeting (size, AV requirements), and that WebEx and dial-in numbers are provided as needed. The Solution Architect will define the needs and the CI PMO will execute. The SA will be expected to Quality Control. * Participate in weekly or bi weekly operations meetings where resources are assigned to opportunities and special projects * Engage CIS pooled consultants and the Business Units as appropriate to conduct research and create content in support of solution designs * Manage opportunity activation including establishing project codes, entries, document sharing sites, and meeting schedules * Manage and facilitate solution design meetings ensure that there are objectives and agendas and that follow-ups and action items are documented and tracked * Consolidate work stream level content into full document drafts and ensure that the sections align to the overall solution.
