SwiftStack, a Gartner ' visionary' and the developer of the SwiftStack multi-cloud storage and data management system, is looking for a talented Solution Architect / Technical Consultant to join our Professional Services team. Our software, open-source at the core, enables organizations to store and manage Petabytes of data across private infrastructure and public clouds. SwiftStack integrates with Google Compute Platform and AWS, enabling customers to build hybrid storage clouds for their unstructured data, such as media assets, web-content scientific data, backups and logs.

As a Solution Architect / Technical Consultant at SwiftStack, you will be part of the Professional Services team designing, architecting and supporting our customers to implement large-scale cloud storage infrastructure. You will be a part of a top notch group that works closely with some of the best known brands in the Fortune 500 (see some of our customers here). This position is based in Detroit and is primarily focused on assisting clients in the automotive space but also involves working with other clients across the US. While much of the work we do can be delivered remotely, there will be approx. 10-20% travel.

You probably have a strong technical background in Linux system administration, DevOps, networking, distributed systems and know your way around a data center and the cloud. You also have experience working closely with large customers, in particular automotive clients, to design and integrate software infrastructure to support their on-premises and cloud applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with leading companies to design and implement the SwiftStack multi-cloud data management system in their data centers
  • Discover and analyze clients technical requirements
  • Design cloud storage solutions, including solutions architecture, cluster and networking design
  • Integrate solutions into clients enterprise IT environment
  • Assist clients with testing, including functional, operational and benchmarking testing
  • Project manage production go-live activities

Requirements

  • Strong systems background in Linux-based platforms, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and/or Ubuntu
  • Experience with distributed systems
  • Experience working with face-to-face with customers in a consulting or solution architect role
  • Expert technical background in IT particularly storage, cloud infrastructure, and/or web-scale application technologies
  • Expertise in architecting and troubleshooting networking infrastructure such as 10GbE, L3 switching, and L4 load balancers
  • Experience with L4 protocolsespecially http and rsync
  • Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Pupplet and/or Chef
  • Performance analysis of storage and x86 platforms
  • Experience with AD/LDAP
  • Some experience with Python and/or other language(s)
  • Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar degree/experience
  • Ability to travel (~25%) to customer sites

Required Skills and experience: * Evangelize VMware's strategy driving product demonstrations to customer executives and technical leaders within the healthcare vertical * Provide expert technical support for opportunities involving VMware management and integration into existing management and monitoring systems. * Lead Proof of Concept exercises for vRealize products in customer labs to validate solutions * Maintain deep technical knowledge of Cloud solutions, industry directions and trends. * Maintain working knowledge of peer and competitor products * Provide consultative support to the Field and Partner Training organization for development of deep technical GTM training material and positioning * Work collaboratively with Product Management, Technical Marketing and Engineering during the development, launch and continuing refinement of VMware products * Maintain, grow and leverage technical pre-sales relationships with key VMware Partner Field Organizations * Lead the technical pre-sales community discussions and facilitate knowledge dissemination to the VMware and Partner Subject Matter Experts with regards to VMware products in conjunction with Cloud solutions and architectures * Document best practices & architectural references in developing and deploying VMware Cloud solutions * 6+ years of experience in technology related areas including: enterprise systems management and infrastructure (Datacenter) architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical business infrastructure. * Strong technical proficiency with both mainstream and emerging automation and configuration management solutions.
