As a Digital Fabrication Lab Engineering and Management Intern, you will help manage the 2100 sq ft. Fab Lab (part of the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab) set up in collaboration with MIT's Center of Bits and Atoms and Fab Academy. In addition you will be executing voluntary and assigned projects and will be responsible for:
Operating and maintaining the digital fabrication equipment, including 3D printing, Laser, CNC Mill, Robotics, Virtual Reality and Electronics to facilitate startups and employee-driven projects.
You will undergo basic training on all equipment and you will have to enhance your skills across these machines through self-learning and by setting concrete goals.
Providing technical mentoring, guidance and support to users of the laboratory on the use of the equipment and design tools, including SOLIDWORKS.
Working with the education and early engagement team in the 3DExperience Fab Lab you will help support our efforts for students and makers.
Learning new software and applying advanced skills in SOLIDWORKS and the 3DExperience platform.
Applying creativity to the community of makers and fabbers by helping us support upcoming events
Working on your own personal/ professional project to enhance your design and making skills

What will your role be?
This hands-on role will offer you opportunities to advance your digital media, product design, and communications skills, set up new processes and practices in a state-of-the-art digital fabrication facility, and work on self-initiated and assigned projects. You will report to the North America Manager of 3DEXPERIENCE Lab Program. You will be exposed to the entire engineering digital fabrication universe from product design to manufacturing.
Your Challenges ahead
Major responsibilities of the internship position are listed below. Other duties, assignments and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management.
CAD 3DExperience Platform, SOLIDWORKS xDesign
Working knowledge of machine tools/ fabrication (experience in maker space/ tool room preferred)
Knowledge of Game Design
Communication skills-- able to lead tours and trainings
Self-Starter/ Proactive- Demonstrated through past projects
Organization and Resource Optimization Skills
Support the relationship between DS SOLIDWORKS & Harvard
Help with the preparation of corporate events
Support events hosted in our 3DExperience Fab Lab
Design, document and manufacture a project in the Fab Lab for the development of materials for the Harvard Giza project and others in development
Your key success factors
A Master's student actively enrolled in a Technology/ Archeology Degree program or a Graduate student pursuing a Master's, degree in Engineering for the duration of the internship
Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 /4.0 scale
Available to work onsite in the Waltham office for the duration of the internship
Well-developed skills in MS Office--Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Highly organized with critical attention to details
Strong communication skills in English
