Solid Waste Attendant - Full Time

SOLID WASTE ATTENDANT* (FULL TIME): Performs general/manual work to assist the public with disposal of refuse for Beaufort County. Responsibilities include providing information and guidance regrading proper separation of refuse, assisting customers with lifting and unloading waste materials, operating a trash compactor and a variety of equipment, and maintaining operation records.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

•    High school diploma or equivalent degree

•    Some related work experience preferred

•    Excellent customer service and communication skills

•    Some record keeping experience

•    Able to work outside in all weather conditions

•    Available for weekends and holidays

•    Basic reading, comprehension and math skills required

•    Valid driver's license

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
