Solar Site Supervisor (Contract) - Redfield, SD
The Site Supervisors is responsible for overseeing the on-site construction of Utility-scale solar projects throughout the construction phase in South Dakota, from Notice-to-Proceed ("NTP") to Commercial Operation Date ("COD"). The first project will be 11.5 MWdc located near Redfield, South Dakota. Construction start is 2024 Q1 and construction completion is 2024 Q4.
The Site Supervisors (SS) is the on-site representative and is the main point-of-contact for all subcontractors, consultants and third parties on the project site. The SS's primary role is to oversee the execution of the construction work on-site, to ensure contractors are holding to their contractual obligations specifically in terms of safety, quality, schedule and budget. The SS reports to and works closely with the Senior Project Manager (PM). To be successful the SS must complement the PM's contractual and management expertise with their own construction and on-site expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ownership of all the on-site aspects of the solar project from NTP to COD.
Ensuring the safety and security of the employees, and the job site.
Understand the turn-key EPC contract for the solar project and oversee compliance by the EPC Contractor on the project site.
Work with the team (Engineering, Finance, Quality, Safety, etc.) to ensure project success.
Serve as the primary on-site representative
Provide daily reports and updates to the Senior Project Manager on the construction progress, including quality and safety metrics.
Provide regular updates specific to the construction of the project to management and external partners, including the Project Finance Team.
Interface with the on site utility and project Off-Takers on-site.
Engage with AHJs and applicable permit authorities to ensure successful issuance and closure of permits for the project including but not limited to Conditional Use Permit, Environmental Permits, SWPPP Permits.
Support the Senior Project Manager with scheduling and coordinating the project Commissioning and Close-Out activities, with support from project partners.
Coordinate with the project Independent Engineer on-site.
Assist in the hand-off of the project to the Operations and Maintenance team at COD.
Monitor EPC and Subcontractor compliance with their Contracts specifically in terms of Quality, Safety, Schedule and Budget.
Monitor Subcontractor Plan-of-Day meetings (ideally attending them with some frequency), generally have knowledge of Subcontractor activity each day on the project site.
Conduct site audits as needed and participate in "Take 5" meetings with EPC Subcontractor in coordination with Quality lead, Safety lead and Project Manager.
Translate and interpret wiring/construction schematics to support Construction installation. Civil, Structural and Electrical.
Adherence to OSHA safety regulations and Safety standards. Ensures no employee or subcontractor operations proceed without proper safety compliance.
Responsible party for conducting, documenting and reporting safety meetings.
Assist in preplanning of projects including plan review and comments, manpower, project sequencing, material takeoffs, material requisitions and reviewing subcontractors scopes of work.
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with Senior Project Manager, project engineers and clients.
Work with Senior Project Management to develop accurate construction schedule forecasts and to create daily reports to track construction progress, material deliveries, installation issues, tool issues and other site activity.
Work directly and in conjunction with subcontractors, temporary labor, electricians and employees on planning, scheduling of construction and quality control applications.
Provide guidance and technical support to the personal, temporary labor and subs on issues concerning electrical and building components/ applications.
Verification and processing of receipts, submitting or maintaining reporting of daily activity, resolution of field quality or production issues.
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Have experience as Site Supervisor overseeing subcontractor's civil and electrical scopes
Have previously performed the above duties and responsibilities for Utility-scale solar projects
Preference: experience on projects 2-20MW
Location (or ability to travel or relocate temporarily) to be based in the eastern South Dakota areas for the duration of the project
Ability to work at the project site full-time during construction.
Expertise in construction processes and procedures
The ability to work with subcontractors, and leading a small team of staff.
Ability to work with Google office tools, especially Gmail and Google Drive
3 years' working experience installing commercial PV or 2 years' working experience in Construction Management.
OSHA 10 Hour Training and OSHA 30 Hour Training (must be achieved within 30 days of hiring.)
Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical aspects of Commercial PV Construction.
Proficient in reading and understanding design plans/ blueprints.
Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task at a high level while efficiently completing tasks.
Knowledge of PV Commissioning requirements and experience commissioning systems.
Ability to efficiently work from the job site daily and lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable and experienced using extension ladders and/or scissor lifts.
Compensation
Projected weekly earnings: $2200 - $2800 (dependent on experience)

Per diem: $350 per week
