Solar Field Pre-Construction Testing Technician

Position Summary

The Solar Field Pre-Construction Testing Technician performs soil and foundation testing to inform the design and installation of steel pile foundations for solar PV systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Calibrate testing equipment and perform load tests on steel piles.

• Record data and survey test locations using GPS.

• Collect soil samples and identify soil types.

• Adhere to OSHA and safety standards.

• Document site issues affecting project costs and designs.

• Operate heavy equipment (e.g., pile driver, skid steer).

• Mentor and ensure safe practices for Technicians and temporary workers.

• Travel nationally to project sites and communicate test results and issues.

Qualifications:

• Education/Experience: Associate Degree in Science, Civil or Construction Management, with 3+ years in relevant fields and heavy equipment operation.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Earth, and blueprint reading.

• Licenses: OSHA 30 and a valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in various conditions and lift up to 60 lbs.

• Stand for long periods and communicate effectively.

Work Conditions:

• Field environment with extensive travel.
