Job Description:

GSM-O is looking for Summer 2019 interns to be placed across multiple service delivery groups. Positions focus around various areas of the network operations support functions including:

Performing functional analysis of data and network design

Translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications Performing network design data entry and cleanup tasks.

Performing documentation and metric collections for government delivery. Emphasis on technical writing skills along with a working knowledge of networking concepts.

Performing project planning focusing on the ability to develop logical plans to solve problems based on requirements.

Providing customer support of user's questions and issues during all phases of the Network Engineering lifecycle.

Performing trouble analysis of data and network design.

Development of software and network scripts (bash, perl)

  • Ability to perform Data Entry tasks and run appropriate queries and utilize pivot tables to display, perform analysis, assess trends. Interact with customers and other teams when responding to customer tasking.

  • Familiarization with IT and Computer networking concepts Microsoft Office 8570 Security Plus

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a degree-granting program in relevant discipline.

  • US Citizenship required

Interns will work in a small team with a senior engineer as a guide and mentor. Projects will be scoped for the team to complete the entire project during their internship, including requirements, design, prototyping, documentation, and presentation. Potential projects may include software development, data analytics/science, systems engineering, solutions engineering, IoT, and embedded systems development. Key Functions: * Participate in a team of interns to design and prototype a solution to a sponsor problem * Learn from experienced technical staff while applying current techniques to support MITRE tasks * Work together as a team with guidance from a senior engineer * Document and publish design artifacts, white papers, briefings, etc. * Brief progress to department staff and sponsors Required Qualifications: * Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a technical discipline (including but not limited to Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, etc.) * Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a member of a team * Ability to communicate technical subjects to a variety of audiences * U.S. citizen able to obtain a clearance Preferred Qualifications: * Academic experience in one or more of the following areas: systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science, data analytics, semantic processing, simulation, modeling, or optimization * Experience with one or more programming language (e.g. Python, C#, R, Java, etc.) * Experience with one or more virtualization technologies (e.g. VirtualBox, VMware, Docker, Amazon EC2, Azure, etc.) * Knowledge of a software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies and principles, and automated testing (e.g. DevOps, Scrum, Kanban) The Mitre Corporation Shiloh IL
