MITRE Mission Command Information Systems Department is seeking an Early Career Software/Computer Science Engineer to work on a variety of cutting edge projects. These projects are in information warfare, command and control, fire support (artillery), smart munitions, intelligence and much more. The technical work areas include software development for the Android operating system, web development, software testing such as performance testing, requirements development, UML for software designs, and data modeling/management. Modern technologies such as React, Node.js, Angular, Protobuf, git, NOSQL, Atlassian, Slack, and more are utilized. MITRE Corporation's Mission Command and Intelligence Information Systems (P621) Department is based out of Aberdeen, MD on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, only an hour from Baltimore and Philadelphia.
Execute full software engineering life cycle processes (concept vision through test)
Develop software using Agile processes and tools (JIRA, git, Jenkins/gradle, and more)
Deliver software designs and prototypes to Army R&D and Acquisition, Logistics and Technology sponsors
Evaluate technologies and Commercial products for potential military applicability
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar degree
2 or more years of programming with 1 or more of the following languages:
Java or similar object-oriented language
Understanding of software design patterns and best practices
Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
Enthusiasm and a desire to learn and grow
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance which will require US citizenship
Experience with Android programming including understanding of Android IPC mechanisms such as Intents
Building software with languages/frameworks such as Maven and Gradle
Machine Learning experience or course work
Understanding of databases (relational or NOSQL)
Familiarity with serialization formats including JSON, XML, and Google Protobuf
Technical writing skills such as drafting software designs and technical guidance
Experience or understanding of all phases of the Software or Systems Development Life Cycle
Strong interpersonal, briefing, and communication skills
