JOB TITLE: Software Support Specialist

Job Summary/Scope
Provides software support for a number of systems, including creating reports, software customization, and end user support. Administers software applications and develops complex programs as necessary. No supervisory responsibilities. No budgetary responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides support for CivicGov software. This includes customization via scripting and end user support.
Provides support for Central Square, Springbrook, and other software programs utilized by the City.
Writes simple and complex SQL queries as needed.
Develops reports for City-utilized software.
Assists with implementations as the Project Manager or Lead Contact.
Design and create GIS maps as necessary for use with Accela or ArcGIS Online.
Proficient with Microsoft Access, creating reports and spreadsheets.
Assists with maintenance of the City's website.
Resolves complex software issues on desktop PCs.
Other duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge about and the understanding of the technical aspects of a variety of computer related equipment.
Must have the ability to work effectively with users of varying degrees of expertise.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows Server.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Access.
Knowledge of GIS technologies, including ArcGIS Server and Desktop software
Knowledge of ODBC database connectivity.
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including SQL Server Reporting Services and the ability to write SQL queries.
Basic knowledge in creating reports using SSRS, Crystal Reports, or other reporting programs.
Basic knowledge of Javascript and writing scripts in general.
Ability to think logically to solve complex problems.
Ability to work a varied and sometimes long schedule.
Valid driver's license required.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Daily use of personal computers, printers and various software programs. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Requires good vision, hand and finger dexterity. Required frequent bending reaching and other physical movement. Work is performed in an office setting with a controlled environment. Job can require long hours working at a computer terminal, or in tight quarters during installation of equipment. Must be able to climb ladders. Occasionally lifts 10 to 20 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor, consistent with City personnel policies.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field preferred.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
