JOB TITLE: Software Senior Engineer II

DUTIES: Build full-stack web applications.

Document project and/or implementation activities at the appropriate level of detail per Vertex procedures and practices. Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal clients and DTE colleagues, coordinates with clients and DTE colleagues to resolve systems issues and advance projects, and assist with development of materials to support user training on new or changing technology solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve a range of more advanced problems for supported systems and associated integration points with other platforms.

Understand current and planned technology architectures and standards to build solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable. Directly interface with clients and serves as an interface with the business lead in their assigned client area, respond to user problems, explain new technologies, and present deliverables. Design, develop and test highly advanced program functionality for new and existing applications.

Build more complex user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages. Lead in the development of functional specifications, which articulate clear and concise project deliverables consistent with user expectations. Write detailed documentation for the operations of applications for development support.

Work collaboratively with application development, dev ops, user experience, and IT architecture groups, often leading/guiding discussions, project tasks, etc. Communicate work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Lead development work and coaches junior talent on technologies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by managers(s).

Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.

REQUIREMENTS: The position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:

• Software Engineering skills in the following programming languages: Java, Python, and JavaScript

• AWS Cloud Solutions Developer and Architect skills including developing serverless solutions with Lambda and Fargate Services

• API Development including Swagger or Open API specifications with yaml definitions

• Chemistry or Cheminformatics tools for molecular simulations and dynamics

• Agile Scrum framework tools such as Jira, BitBucket and Confluence.

• JavaScript frameworks, such as Vue, Angular, React, ExtJS, or jQuery

• Relational or non-relational databases

• Python Frameworks such as Django, Flask, or Virualenv
