The Software Manager, Informatics provides technical leadership to, and management of engineering teams.

  • Leads transformation initiatives to improve division agility and technological edge, working expertly with other functional managers, division heads, and corporate sponsors

  • Not only ensure teams are compliant with Quality Management System, but expertly drives continuous improvement

  • Knows how to lead long term planning / but expertly manages short term execution

  • Expertly builds collaborative and trusting relationships across functions, both internal and external, for more efficient and effective teams

  • Responsible for ensuring teams are technically skilled, trained, and performance to meet current and future program objectives

  • Champions software industry best practices and cutting edge technologies to accelerate global competitiveness.

  • Creates an environment that attracts, develops, and promotes collaboration within and across functions

  • Delivers best-in-class products by building best-in-class teams

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of technology platforms and products

  • Principal owner of software specifications and related R&D documents

  • Expertly communicate status, plans, and issues to all levels of the organization

  • Support and lead global software development organization consisting of full time, contractors, vendors, and interns

  • Coach and mentor staff in building their technical and leadership skills

  • Work with other leaders cross functionally to ensure the team is exceeding expectations for ICU Medical

  • Drive teams to deliver high quality, high value products and services

  • Lead technical decision making and gap assessments

  • Leads strategic analysis and plans for technology roadmaps and organization improvements

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Expert in hybrid cloud software architectures and their enabling technologies

  • Expert in high-velocity and high-volume data platforms (IOT)

  • Expert in discerning front-end and back-end challenges and opportunities

  • Drives a "Systems" perspective to find root cause(s), failure modes, and sources of error

  • Strong Internet of Things (IOT) experience, with innovations in fault tolerance, error handling, and high availability

  • Knows state of the art Cybersecurity best practices

  • Expert at innovating with state of the art tools and software processes to drive efficiency

  • Experience leading research projects that define the next generation of products that create a new pipeline.

  • Experience leading large scale products

  • Position requires a great deal of hands on design, development, and test experience.

Education and Experience

  • 5 years managing software teams

  • 10 years in software development

  • 5 years technical writing experience (e.g., SOPs, Requirements, and Architecture)

  • End-to-end full product lifecycle management experience

  • Medical Device Experience, concept through release

  • Experience navigating the regulatory environment, both domestically and globally

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, problem solving

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in associated engineering disciplines, (Technical Masters or MBA preferred)
  • 5 years of functional leadership experience
  • 5 years working in an agile development environment (Certified Scrum Master is preferred)
  • 10 years of software development experience

Travel Requirements

  • Typically requires travel 5-20% of the time

  • This is largely a sedentary role.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Key Job Functions/Requirements * Hands-on experience with construction of complex engineering solutions and knowledge of software development methodologies * Assumes end-to-end ownership of solutions as part of Agile SCRUM team, which includes assisting in development of testing automation and other key quality aspects * Partner with product owners and other Agile SCRUM team members to determine new features and user stories * Participate in code reviews to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate * Assist in establishing and supporting coding standards * Engage in all Agile ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstrations, and team retrospectives * Exhibits DevOps mindset where Agile SCRUM team is accountable for product from inception to sunset * Respond to support incidents for production applications in order to make quick repair to prevent application outages * Create and/or update documentation to support development efforts.
