BAE Systems is looking for an experienced, hands-on Software Lead/Architect. The qualified candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team that works in a rapid, agile development environment. The qualified candidate should have experience with software languages such as Java, Web Services, XML, JSON; software architectures; and managing, planning, and coordinating software design and development efforts.

As a Software Lead/Architect, you will:

  • Lead the Insight team in the complete software development lifecycle including designing, developing, debugging, testing, configuring, and deploying our complex, cloud-based software solutions.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

#SWSDRequired Education, Experience, & Skills

  • US Citizenship with an active Top Secret security clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field

  • 10+ years of software design, code and test experience

  • Strong software architecture, design, and development experience using Java.

  • Software development, coding, and debugging experience across the entire development lifecycle

  • Experience with Java Web Services, XML, JSON, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes.

  • Experience integrating with external components and APIs and working with schemas

  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git, Bitbucket

  • Experience with Agile development and issue tracking systems, such as JIRA

  • Experience with software build tools, such as Visual Studio and Eclipse

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders

  • Experience with team leadership or the desire for leadership experience and mentoring roles

  • Experience in managing, planning, and coordinating software development efforts

  • Ability to innovate, evaluate and research new technologies while staying abreast of industry trends

  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities

  • Strong fundamentals to implement, and sometimes design, novel algorithms and software features

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Understanding of Java Spring Micro-Services using 12 Factor design principles

  • Experience with leadership such as being a Subject Matter Expert or lead of a team

  • Experience designing and developing high level software architectures

  • Experience with Wildfly/JBoss or similar application server

  • Experience with integrating subcontractor components

  • Experience with Postgres or other Relational Database

  • Experience using DevSecOps tools such as Git, Gitlab, Docker, Fortify, Artifactory/JFrog, Jenkins

  • Experience with Kafka messaging

  • SAFeAgile framework, or related agile concepts

  • Development of scientific and mathematical software applications and algorithms

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $140690 - $239140

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
