Software Lab Coordinator III

The individual will be a member of the Software Architecture and Development Team supporting multiple projects in parallel. As a skilled specialist, the individual will complete tasks in creative and effective ways and work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Makes independent decisions. Assist in the troubleshooting of issues to determine root cause and possible engineering solutions.


  • Plans software laboratory capacity to ensure all software development and testing teams have access to a sufficient number of instrument / devices

  • Plans the software laboratory capacity in terms of number of different versions of software and hardware devices, to ensure that development and testing activities can be performed on all the required platform versions (e.g. software under active development, released software versions etc.), also including keeping operating system software up to date, creating and refreshing operating system images, and installing software

  • Ensures hardware devices are maintained in good state by scheduling the maintenance activities, 3rd party service calls, removing instrument waste, and optimizes laboratory activities to minimize overlaps and resource conflicts.

  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.

  • Completes purchasing of hardware, software and lab consumables on behalf of the software team including maintaining a list of renewed software, and purchases completed.

  • Searches and reviews literature, specifications and standards for relevance to assigned tasks.

  • Adheres to company procedures and processes.

  • Makes plans, executes and revises as needed to accomplish assigned tasks to meet expectations of quality and time.

  • Works as an effective departmental or cross-functional team member within a matrix organization.

  • Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.
  • Working proficiency in Networking and Security a plus Qualifications

  • AS degree in Engineering Technology.
  • 6-8 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, engineering creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts.

  • Strong understanding of the SDLC which is applied to planning for software laboratory needs

  • Strong knowledge of imaging software to ensure software laboratory is configured in a repeatable manner

  • Strong knowledge of completing purchasing processes used to support time based activities

  • Working knowledge of Virtual Machines and/or cloud computing solutions
  • Uses company practices as applied to tasks for configuration management

  • Uses company and industry design practices as applied to assignment

Inspects and performs organizational, intermediate, and/or depot level electronic maintenance and modifications on Predator and Reaper UAS systems and support equipment as required. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Uses common test instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes and similar equipment to effect repairs. Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, micro and mainframe computers, and industrial measuring, controlling and calibration devices. Performs basic configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, analysis and repair of databases, switches, networks, video systems, and long-haul communications as required. Essential Responsibilities: * Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve problems by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents including determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. * Requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. * Exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculation of wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. * Uses common and complex test instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes, high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. * Work may be reviewed by the Supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. * Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians. * Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); micro and mainframe computers and terminals; and industrial measuring, controlling equipment, and industrial calibration devices. * Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Requirements * Must have completed UAS MQ-1/MQ-9-series maintenance training course. Additional "on the job" training may be required. * Must have Associate's degree, or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
