Position Summary
The Software Engineering Senior Manager is responsible for leading a software engineering team, which includes career and talent development, strategic technical vision and planning, capacity and demand management and project delivery.
The Software Engineering Senior Manager is a partner to business customers and works in concert with the Portfolio Manager to define priorities and deliverables by clearly communicating areas of risk, dependencies, and mitigations to both technical and non-technical audiences. They will also work directly with architecture and quality assurance to define and implement benchmarks for product quality and interaction between interconnected systems. By building relationships across the organization, they will navigate complex issues and work across teams to align implementation schedules and remove blockers.
About The Team
The Corporate and Enterprise Services technology team supports a variety of different business units and key technology platforms. Our team is organized to support both the Corporate business unit and multiple enterprise services. Within the Corporate portfolio, we support teams such as Finance, Internal Audit, Campus Operations, Communications, Legal and more. Within the Enterprise portfolio, we support services such as HR, Enterprise Content Management, and custom middleware that connects Oracle to our legacy systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a coach and mentor for the entire development team, inclusive of software engineers, software engineering managers, product owners, project managers and QA
Develop engineering skillsets of the team in preparation for the needs 2+ years into the future
Work with team leadership to establish annual KPIs
Actively work to remove blockers to sprint and project success
Establish an environment that focuses on rapid delivery, high quality and low technical debt through self-directed teams
Foster a culture of innovation that looks for unique ways to solve problems, increase capacity, lower costs and generally promote positive change
Understand business requirements across the organization. Align technical and business goals across teams to create a consolidated view of needs from an enterprise level
Partner with architects to understand system design constraints, functional and non-functional requirements
Provide guidance that focuses on common solutions which are reusable, fault tolerant and enable rapid delivery
Participates in budgeting activities around team member resources, contractors, projected software renewals and costs associated with software development
Establish clear goals that can be used as an anchor point for decisions and conversations.
Work to establish a common understanding between stakeholder groups and tech partners that eliminates ambiguity
Primary Qualifications
5+ years of software development experience
Previous experience managing development teams
Bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent work experience
Understanding of AWS, the service it provides and cost management
AWS certification preferred, but not required

Understands how to utilize EDA and Microservices to create low dependency interconnected systems
