What You Will Do In Your Role

The ideal candidate for the Software Engineering Manager role will have significant software design experience in the development of automated development & test stations . Experience should be in the telecom, optical, or similar industry. This technical manager will join, manage & lead a small team of highly experienced software design engineers working on many aspects of the development & production station code. He or she must be able to clearly communicate with peers, product management, process engineers, and technicians. The position requires taking a lead role in the overall station development process for multiple stations and mentoring colleagues in our manufacturing factory with a potential role growth.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Designs, develops and deploys software solutions for various manufacturing processes

  • Manages post-deployment bug fixing and feature requests

  • Ownership of Station SW process improvement to adopt best practice and improve code quality for the team

  • Communicates issues and solutions when problems arise

  • Manages station SW release schedule

  • Documents processes via flowcharts, diagrams, as well as through code comments

  • Creates reusable libraries

  • Designs software that communicates with data bases (SQL knowledge is a plus)

  • Writes drivers for manufacturing equipment such as motion controllers, light meters, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, etc.

  • Prototyping and estimation

  • Produces detailed specifications

  • Supports process engineers by interpreting station output data on product issues

  • Performs application testing before deployment

  • Travel to Asia may be required at some time in the future

  • Ability to prioritize, negotiate & manage SW releases

What Will Put You Ahead

  • BS Computer Science degree , engineering, or equivalent required

  • 5+ years of C/C++ development experience

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, etc)

  • Experience writing device drivers for test equipment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to plan and prioritize activities, perform and monitor multiple overlapping tasks/operations to meet schedule

  • Proven SW team management experience

  • Ability to manage projects involving multiple developers and process engineers

  • Self-motivated and self-driven to fulfill job duties and responsibilities and creating a SW team transformation

The Lead Android Software Engineer will be responsible to design, develop and unit test client applications and componenets that will operate within the Synchronoss product suite. Working with our clients to ensure on-time delivery the Software Engineer works on development and component architecture of the product while cultivating relationships with Synchronoss partners. How you will help: * Involved with all phases of mobile application development from initial concepts, through design, development, testing and deployment * Coordinates implementation dependencies across organizational boundaries as needed * Responsible for development and support of native Android applications * Develop and architect Android applications across multiple releases (Java, Kotlin). * Drives development within SCRUM agile process with other stakeholders (Product Owners, XD design, Quality Engineers) as well as across organization to balance creative objectives with business needs and technical requirements * Lead best practices by producing high quality, documented and testable code Who we have in mind: * 8+ years of software development experience wth 4+ years of successful experience as a developer for native Android application(s) * Full understanding of the full mobile development life cycle * Experience in utilizing multi-threading technologies to create highly responsive data intensive applications * Good knowledge of Android frameworks, especially for handling Contacts, Messaging, Telephony and Media * Good knowledge with web service architecture, protocols, security and data formats (Ex. REST, OAuth, JSON, etc.) and implementation patterns on Android platform including both Google and 3rd party tools/frameworks * Deep understanding of memory management practices * Build and dependency management systems - Maven, Gradle * Strong understanding of OS UI guidelines. * Strong handle of Android profiling tools * Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines * Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving abilities It would be great if you had: * Extensive experience with Git, GitFlow branching model * Continuous Integration tools - Bamboo, Jenkins * Experience working with SCRUM and/or Agile development environments * Experience working in cross-functional teams * Interop with native C/C++ libraries What we offer: * Competitive Salary + Bonus * Flex Time PTO * Healthcare * 401K * Vision * Dental Synchronoss is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
