What You Will Do In Your Role
The ideal candidate for the Software Engineering Manager role will have significant software design experience in the development of automated development & test stations . Experience should be in the telecom, optical, or similar industry. This technical manager will join, manage & lead a small team of highly experienced software design engineers working on many aspects of the development & production station code. He or she must be able to clearly communicate with peers, product management, process engineers, and technicians. The position requires taking a lead role in the overall station development process for multiple stations and mentoring colleagues in our manufacturing factory with a potential role growth.
The Experience You Will Bring
Designs, develops and deploys software solutions for various manufacturing processes
Manages post-deployment bug fixing and feature requests
Ownership of Station SW process improvement to adopt best practice and improve code quality for the team
Communicates issues and solutions when problems arise
Manages station SW release schedule
Documents processes via flowcharts, diagrams, as well as through code comments
Creates reusable libraries
Designs software that communicates with data bases (SQL knowledge is a plus)
Writes drivers for manufacturing equipment such as motion controllers, light meters, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
Prototyping and estimation
Produces detailed specifications
Supports process engineers by interpreting station output data on product issues
Performs application testing before deployment
Travel to Asia may be required at some time in the future
Ability to prioritize, negotiate & manage SW releases
What Will Put You Ahead
BS Computer Science degree , engineering, or equivalent required
5+ years of C/C++ development experience
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, etc)
Experience writing device drivers for test equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan and prioritize activities, perform and monitor multiple overlapping tasks/operations to meet schedule
Proven SW team management experience

Ability to manage projects involving multiple developers and process engineers
