This is a critical management role in R&D leading a high performing team responsible for the design and testing of electrical medical equipment software used to program implantable devices. This role interfaces with other functional managers (systems, hardware, firmware) as well as a global team of R&D engineers.

In Rhythm Management (RM) we offer solutions for treating irregular heart rhythms and heart failure, as well as protecting against sudden cardiac arrest. In addition, we offer solutions with 3D Mapping and Navigation systems, Radiofrequency Ablation catheters, Diagnostic Catheters, EP recording systems, and Intracardiac Access Sheaths. Boston Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets a broad array of products and services that enable less-invasive care for some of the most threatening cardiac conditions. About the role:

This position is responsible for directing the activities of the software engineering function focused on developing software for electrical medical equipment that interfaces with implantable Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) medical devices. This team's primary activities are to create software requirements and design, implement the software, and test the software using various white box and black box approaches. Throughout this process, the software engineering manager oversees the efficient, high quality design and testing of this critical medical device software.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for recruiting, coaching, and developing organizational talent.

  • Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, MDR, etc.).

  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.

  • Responsible for developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the annual budget for the department.

What we're looking for:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering plus 7-9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience developing product software

  • Knowledge of Cardiac Rhythm Management products (pacemakers, defibrillators, leads, programmer, communicator, mobile device, patient management application)

  • Knowledge of Lean/Agile concepts including scrums, burnups, retrospectives, backlog, and minimizing WIP

  • Knowledge of software engineering methods and tools (structured development, thread management, static analysis, unit/integration/verification testing)

  • Knowledge of test automation systems for software development

  • Knowledge of test protocol development

  • Design Controls expertise with particular focus on requirements, design, verification and traceability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing regulated, safety critical software

  • Experience working with a global R&D team

  • Ability to lead a high performing team of experienced engineers

  • Ability to prioritize resource needs across competing projects

  • Experience in leading change management initiatives

  • Strong communication skills, including technical discussions at all levels

  • Ability to develop partnerships with cross-functional areas within and outside of product development

About This Role: We currently have an open position at our Arden Hills/St Paul Facility for a Manufacturing Technical Writer II supporting Arden Hills Operations. This role will support key internal customers, operations, and vertical integration projects as well as strategic projects within the Information Documentation Services (IDS) team. Create and plan the layout and content of documents and templates. Enforce the Boston Scientific Quality System standards. Interpret and advocate industry technical writing standards and adapt them to Boston Scientific's needs. Initiate, coordinate, and lead cross-functional writing projects to meet business requirements. Your Responsibilities Will Include: * Plan, analyze, and create manufacturing documentation using technical writing theories, methods, and tools. * Enforce the Boston Scientific Quality System standards. Interpret and advocate industry technical writing standards and adapt them to Boston Scientific's needs. * Ensure document content quality by consistently managing and organizing information for accuracy and readability. * Identify, analyze, recommend, and implement solutions to cross-functional projects relating to technical writing and business process efficiencies. * Establish and manage relationships from document to document, within document content, or to other points of reference for product information. * Initiate, coordinate, and lead cross-functional writing projects; negotiate project priorities, deliverables, and timelines to meet the needs of compliance and supported functional areas. * Explore new writing methods and technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions. * Provide work direction, mentor, and train less experienced writers and supported groups. * Initiate and support continuous improvement activities at a personal, departmental, and cross-functional level. What We're Looking For In You: Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required, degree in technical writing or related technical field such as engineering or biology preferred. * 2-4 years of technical writing experience * Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. * Experience with Microsoft Word templates Preferred Qualifications * Microsoft Visio experience desired. * Medical device or other regulated industry experience preferred * Ability to work both in collaboration with others on a project team and independently on tasks. * Ability and desire to keep track of document and project details. * Ability to work quickly and efficiently on documents and tasks while still maintaining high quality in work. * Proactive work habits and assertiveness in creating and owning documents. * Aptitude to understand engineering and other technical information. * Project management and time management skills. * Problem solving skills and an ability to respond and adapt to change is desired.
