As a Software Engineering Intern at AXS, you will be contributing to and enhancing various AXS.com features. Your responsibilities will range from developing high performance backend APIs to jQuery based client side interactions. You will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our talented Engineering team and other interns, experimenting with the latest technologies to constantly innovate and improve AXS technology stack.

A day in the life

  • Get hands-on experience working closely with our product, design and engineering teams to deliver best-in-class fan experiences for AXS web and mobile properties

  • Write server-side code for web-based applications, create robust high-volume production applications

  • Architect and develop AXS APIs, to serve internal apps, mobile platforms and partners

  • Analyze and optimize UI and back-end application code for efficiency and performance

What you bring to the table:

  • Currently enrolled in B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field

  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills

  • Exposure to object-oriented (C#, PHP, Java, Objective-C, Swift, etc.) and/or web frameworks (node.JS, React)

  • Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design

  • Some experience building software outside of the classroom environment like an internship, hackathon, research project or related experience preferred

What happens next:

Well be accepting applications through November 2018. Interviews will take place in January 2019 and we anticipate making our hiring decisions by end of March 2019. Our 10-week summer program will run from mid June through August 2019.

The Data Scientist should have: * Familiarity with statistical methods. * Programming skills and knowledge of Python and R languages. * Familiarity with data cleaning, data mining, and machine learning. * Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written). * Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment. * Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills. * Ability to challenge the status quo, and think outside the box to develop solutions The UX Designer should have: * Designing solutions with the user's experience in mind. * Strong MS Office skills -- Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. * Web application development skills spanning UI development, server-side service development, scripting, databases etc. Mobile app development skills will be an asset, but are not required. * Knowledge of wireframe and prototype design tools such as Omnigraffle, InVision, Indigo Studio, Axure and Balsamiq. * Highly proficient in all leading design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premier). * Experience with graphic and web design - CSS, HTML, Angular and related web standards. * Strong visual design sense. * Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written). * Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment. * Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills. * Ability to challenge the status quo, and think outside the box to develop solutions. * Able to be both creative and a programmer on top of the latest industry and cultural trends. * Experienced with user research, mind-mapping, wire-framing, and creating personas.
