We are looking for highly motivated individual with equal passion for team management, software development and operations. For this position, we are looking for someone with ample experience in managing DevOps engineers and experience with hybrid self-hosted AWS environments. You will work closely with our Hosting team, which is currently responsible for our production environments, as well as with developers to gain a deep understanding of the inner works of Skillsoft's super-star application. With the help of your DevOps engineers located in NY, NH, and Hyderabad (India), we want to bring our application to the next level of scalability by leveraging AWS and other public cloud services
Manage and drive a highly qualified DevOps team spread all around the world by setting goals and tracking projects using Agile methodology.
Empower the team to try new ideas and technologies and come up with optimal designs for complex problems; Enable them to work effectively across development teams.
Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
Hands-on day-to-day problem solving with the team, designing infrastructure systems with massive scale in mind and processes that enable 24x7 operations.
Leverage AWS infrastructure to effectively scale the application, managed services to rapidly deploy in multiple regions and manage and optimize costs.
Help in designing and implementing a migration path for our existing datacenter environments to AWS, while keeping the same level of security, compliance and stability.
Experience with FedRamp certification process and requirements is a big plus.
Communicate effectively between teams: DevOps, development leads, and our support teams.
Lead the delivery of the company's star product and collaborate on ansible, terraform, and Jenkins code bases, as well as monitoring and alerting.
Mentor and help both developers and operations teams on the principles of DevOps.
Enable (encourage) DevOps team members to learn the application architecture and become proficient in troubleshooting and problem solving.

Delivery: Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform and custom tools
Data: PostgreSQL, Kafka, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch
Programming: NodeJS, Groovy/Java, Python and Shell-scripting
Enterprise tools: GitHub Enterprise, Slack Enterprise, Jira, Confluence
Skills & Qualifications:
AWS, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, Python
Hands-on coding/scripting experience is highly desirable.
2-3 years experience in a leadership role with running and managing large scale production systems on AWS and demonstrable discipline of managing production environments.
Demonstrable experience with deploying, monitoring and challenges of micro-services architecture.
Experience with data-driven analysis and application troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of Linux systems and networking concepts.
Exceptional communication skills.
Experience with both the new (public cloud + DevOps) and old (self-hosted, isolated ops) worlds in software development.
Ability to present and expose your ideas to both technical and non-technical individuals across the organization.
