Software Engineer Sr (Kafka/Microservices/Iaas/Safe Agile)

As a Software Engineer Sr within PNC's Enterprise Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, or Dallas, TX. or Birmingham, AL. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager's discretion.

• Microservices / OpenShift / Container management.

• Kafka/Data Streaming.

• IAAS, Windows Servers, Linux.

• Support maintenance activities including patching and upgrades.

• Strong Analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with ability to debug complex distributed systems.

• Application monitoring and alerting.

• Perform regular scan to identify, assess and mitigate vulnerabilities in timely manner.

• SAFe Agile awareness a plus.

• Need to have at least 5+ years of Experience.

• Resource Development.

• Delivery and Production Support

• Both Project Work and Production issues ensuring timely resolution of incidents.

• Strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to translate complex technical information for senior management and product team.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced agile environment.

• Experience providing technical thought leadership across an organization.

• Adapt quickly to new applications and flows and be part of a larger enterprise group.

• Be a team player and work towards delivering as a highly performant engineering team.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends related to Kafka and microservices and evaluate potential impact on our system.

• Provides detailed technical design and development of software solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms.

• Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs.

• Writes code, tests and deploys software.

• Prepares technical and procedural documentation required for software.

• Maintains and debugs software.

• Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.

Technical Writing/Documentation

• Knowledge of the technical language and writing approach, and the ability to write paper-based and on-line technical reference documentation (guidelines, standards, procedures, processes, applications, etc.)

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
