Position Title: Software Engineer I - Tableau

Summary of Duties: Actively involved in the development, maintenance, and support of several Tableau applications that provide visual analytic services to the business users of Navient.

Responsible for all life cycles of the development process and will take key ownership of specified applications. Along with strong Tableau skills, have a working knowledge of data mining tools such as SAS and SQL. Learn other visual analytic delivery methods such as SSRS, Power BI, and/or SAS VA.

Design, code, debug, test, document, and maintain complex application software. Work in Tableau, SSRS, Power BI, or other visual analytic software. Work with Operational Management teams to establish business requirements supporting business goals.

Code updates, feature requests, and assist in production support of the customized content software. Support development of input data tables using SQL, SAS, and Microsoft applications. Write test plans and perform test runs in UAT environment and perform validations prior to publishing in Prod.

Research and resolve production problems. Perform small to moderate degree of business analysis and technical analysis. Participate in design sessions and assist with design for small to medium projects.

Assist with business trend analysis to ensure dashboard support departmental goals. Act as department lead for any system updates and migrations. Attend project and release meetings to learn and understand process. Duties may be performed remotely.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Programming, Computer Technology, or related field and one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer, BI Analyst/Developer, SQL/Cognos Analyst, or related role.

Must have one (1) year of experience with: Software development; Visual Analytics tools, such as Tableau, SSRS, or Cognos; Analyzing reports and generating conclusions and recommendations for the business areas; Compiling and presenting data for the business areas that address specific processes, including agent and departmental volume and performance trends; Linux, Unix, or Windows Operating Systems; Working with operational partners to design, code, and test visualization; and Working with line of business targets and policies to ensure compliance with portfolio goals. Must have six (6) months of experience with: Developing input data tables using Hadoop, SQL, and SAS applications.
